Meet Wladimir Sorin

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Wladimir Sorin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Wladimir, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Deep down I always knew I was gonna make it, you know? I’ve just got this belief that whatever I really want, I’ll figure out a way to get it. Some people call me stubborn, I call it confidence. And honestly, if I don’t wake up every morning looking in the mirror and telling myself I’m the best version of me, that I’m talented as hell and I’m that guy… then what’s even the point? Saying it out loud like that, even on the days it feels forced, slowly turns it into something you actually believe. That kind of self-talk builds real confidence, and once you’ve got it, you can see it in everything—how you walk, how you talk, how you handle setbacks.

When I was younger, I remember i used to do a small photoshoot every month. Some days I enjoyed it, but other days I really didn’t want to do it and felt uncomfortable being in front of the camera.
Looking back now, I realize how much it helped me as an actor and artist. It taught me how to feel more confident, understand my image, and be comfortable in front of a camera, even when it didn’t come naturally at first.
Doing theater shows and concerts from a young age, failing, learning how to be in front of an audience.. all those steps made me stronger to face the harsh reality of this industry.

It’s important to remember that we all have something to bring along this journey. Before anyone else sees it, be the first to appreciate your own self worth. Be your first fan, but always stay your first critic.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Wladimir Sorin, and I’m an actor, writer, musician, composer, singer, and model originally from Paris. I’ve been passionate about performing from a very young age. I started acting at just four years old. I remember telling my parents at that time that I wanted to become an American star. Of course, they laughed and said I couldn’t, because I was French but now, being a performer in both French and English feels like a real win.
That early experience led me to later train at Cours Florent, one of Paris’ most prestigious acting schools, and more recently, I graduated from the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York.

Growing up in a creative environment, I also developed skills in dancing, singing, and playing multiple instruments like guitar, piano, and drums ect. I even appeared on French national television as a kid in a documentary following my journey, and I’ve acted in several projects, commercials and short films since then.

On stage, I’ve been fortunate enough to perform in live concerts as a lead guitarist and singer, musicals like “Into The Woods” and “Falsetto Land”, and theater productions including “The Three Sisters”, “King Lear”, and “How to Date a Feminist”. I had the incredible experience of performing in sold-out shows in New York and to everyday be able to live from my passion.

I always knew I wanted to be an actor. It’s the one thing I’m naturally good at and was born to do. Acting comes to me instinctively, and it’s the one profession in the world that allows you to truly be anyone you want to be while also experiencing every kind of life.
One of my dream was always to become an astronaut and explore what hasn’t been explored. I think this desire for discovery is very human and has always been present in me. However, math and science use to bore me immensely hence why I chose to be an actor and an artist ahah.

Acting is the only other possible option on this planet that would allow me this sense of freedom and discovery. And it is the only job in the world that would make, me, an astronaut.
I’ve dreamt of becoming a pirate, a cowboy, a doctor, a scientist.. why choose when what I do could allow me to become all of them. That is why I want to be an actor. I want to be everything this life has to offer. I don’t want to choose.
I want to be an astronaut.

Looking ahead, I have a lot of exciting projects in the works, There’s a lot coming up, and I’m excited to continue sharing my work with audiences everywhere.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are curiosity, confidence, and adaptability.

Curiosity has pushed me to explore different techniques, styles, and perspectives, keeping my work fresh and evolving. Be curious about the world and the people around you. Go out of your comfort zone and seek the beauty and the art that surrounds you.
Confidence has allowed me to trust my instincts, take risks, and fully commit to my craft even in uncertain moments. “Fake it til’ you make it” as they say. Be sure of yourself and go chase those opportunities.
And adaptability has been essential in navigating the many roles, genres, and challenges that come with performing. Adapt to your environment and stay versatile. My role is to make people around me shine, not take all the spotlight.

My advice to those starting out is to stay curious, trust yourself, and embrace change. These qualities will help you grow faster than talent alone ever could.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, especially in this society. I tend to feel overwhelmed when I try to do too much at once or when my OCD gets the best of me. As an actor, I may also feel overwhelmed by an audition, castings, or the many emails you have to send, for example.

My advice is to look at the small details instead of the bigger picture. Maybe what I did today is enough. Maybe waking up today was a victory. Going out, doing paperwork, applying for a job, cleaning my house…
If I stop feeling happy with the little things, how will I ever be satisfied with the bigger ones? This journey is not about racing to the end so appreciate every step along the way and every daily win.

Comparison is the killer of joy, especially as an artist. I stopped thinking I should be somewhere in life because other people are. Instead, I focus on myself—it’s more than enough. My advice is to appreciate the people around you, be grateful for what you can, and walk towards that goal. When it feels too much, when it feels too hard to achieve, in my opinion you’re getting closer to your destination.

Build a routine, and focus on your mental and physical health. Get that workout in, meditate, go out, see your friends… and if today you stay in bed, inside your blanket, all day doing nothing? That’s okay too. There’s always tomorrow.
