Meet Women Moving Mountains

We were lucky to catch up with Women Moving Mountains recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Women Moving Mountains, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Our purpose was born from the realization that women—especially in our local community—needed more than just a place to belong. They needed a space to be seen, heard, and lifted up through every chapter of life. We found our purpose in filling the voids we saw all around us: the moments where women were silently struggling, quietly growing, or powerfully rising without a hand to hold or a cheer to hear.

Women are dynamic and ever-evolving, and we believed there needed to be a space that honored all of it—the strength, the vulnerability, the transitions, and the triumphs. That space became Women Moving Mountains. Our purpose is to encourage, empower, and equip women as they move their own mountains—together.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

At Women Moving Mountains (WMM), we are focused on building a nonprofit movement that empowers women to rise through connection, leadership, and meaningful support. Our story began with a desire to fill the emotional and practical gaps we saw in our community—spaces where women needed encouragement, inspiration, and real-world tools to move through life’s challenges and transitions. We created WMM as a space where women are not just supported, but celebrated through every phase of life.

What makes WMM truly special is our intentional focus on the whole woman. We recognize that women are dynamic—juggling personal growth, family, entrepreneurship, career changes, and more. Our programs reflect that: from community grants and educational scholarships to mentorship and leadership development, every initiative is designed to create lasting impact.

We’re especially excited about our newest offerings:

Our WMM Membership Program just launched, giving women exclusive access to events, mentorship, discounts, and networking inside our private community.

We’re growing our Mentor/Mentee Program, where members can connect based on real-life experience—from motherhood and business to wellness, creativity, or starting over.

We also recently expanded our Director & Volunteer Leadership Opportunities, inviting passionate women to take the lead in their areas of strength.

And we’re getting ready for Spring Scholarship Season—raising funds to provide financial support for local young women pursuing their goals in education and leadership.

At the heart of it all, WMM is about building a legacy of strength, unity, and purpose—one woman at a time. Whether through a book drive, a coffee date, a virtual challenge, or a heartfelt conversation, we’re showing up for women in tangible, impactful ways. And we’re just getting started.

We invite anyone who feels called to this mission to join us—because Together We Are Strong(er).

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three Most Important Qualities, Skills, and/or Areas of Knowledge

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in our journey building Women Moving Mountains have been resilience, relational leadership, and clarity of purpose.

Resilience – Starting and growing something meaningful takes persistence. There will be setbacks, doubts, and unexpected challenges. Our ability to stay grounded and move forward—even when the path isn’t clear—has been essential.
Advice: Build your resilience like a muscle. Stay consistent with your vision, and surround yourself with people who believe in you when you’re tired of believing in yourself.

Relational Leadership – WMM is rooted in relationships. Knowing how to truly listen, collaborate, and lead with empathy has allowed us to create a space where people feel seen and valued.
Advice: Focus on how you make people feel. Authenticity, vulnerability, and compassion will take you farther than credentials alone.

Clarity of Purpose – From the beginning, we knew why we were doing this—even if the “how” evolved. That purpose kept us aligned when decisions were hard and the workload was heavy.
Advice: Take the time to get clear on what drives you. Let your purpose be your compass—it’ll help guide your strategy and your soul.

Whether you’re building a nonprofit, starting a business, or simply growing into your next chapter, trust your pace, stay grounded in your why, and let connection lead the way.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely—we’re always looking to partner and collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations!

At Women Moving Mountains, we believe that true impact is created through connection and collaboration. We’re especially eager to connect with:

Female entrepreneurs, educators, artists, and creatives who want to share their gifts with our community

Local businesses interested in contributing to our membership boxes or sponsoring events

Professionals and leaders who want to serve as mentors or guest speakers for our workshops or challenges

Nonprofits and community organizations with aligned missions focused on empowerment, education, wellness, or leadership

If you’re reading this and thinking, “this sounds like my kind of space,” then we want to hear from you!
