Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to WUUSKÎ. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
WUUSKÎ, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
Going through a burnout phase is very real, I have never been able to avoid that one. It becomes very discouraging when your personal life interferes with your creative mindset, but I think that’s very normal. As an artist, it’s been very important for me to take time to slow down and appreciate my foundation, and be present in my own life.
I typically take about a year to create and curate each collection, which not only gives me time to experience my journey in the present, but also being able to authentically reflect and continue to portray experiences throughout each individual garment.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I used to consider WUUSKÎ a brand, but as I continued to develop as an artist these past few years, WUUSKÎ really became a part of me. As corny as that sounds, WUUSKÎ is really just the part of my life I chose to show the world through different perspectives of art — Such as clothes, sneakers, accessories, bags, and furniture.
Most importantly, I enjoy working with other artists in my community to create content, share experiences with, and also help other artists portray their visions as well.
I recently just launched my new collection “Rewolf” and hosted my first ever pop-up event in Atlanta!
It was honestly one of the most memorable nights I’ve had in a long time.
I feel more than grateful, I was able to work with amazing people to curate an event to not only showcase the collection, but bring a great energy and community together again.
“Rewolf” is now available to be purchased online at www.wuuski.com
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Authenticity in my opinion is the biggest, if not the only quality any artist should be knowledgeable in.
I think self is the biggest obstacle artists face, as it can be very difficult to take a step outside of your body and then look at yourself.
To me, being able to reflect on different perspectives of myself, helps me portray my craft in a way I want my audience to feel it.
This is also why I value the time to experience and authentically feel the presence in my own person life.
I don’t think I would have any purpose to create art, if I wasn’t able to authentically share my growth or story to anyone that is listening.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
You know, I’m still waiting on my collaboration with Jeremy Scott.
I know I say this all of the time but, Jeremy if you’re reading this, you know where I’m at!
But really, I am always looking for other artists to collaborate with! I love when I meet other artists in my community that have a similar energy as me, and can challenge each other to create a project through different mediums.
