Xiaomeng, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism is reflected in my works and life. But at first I often doubted it, I couldn’t understand what optimism would bring. But when I was a teenager, I came into contact with black humor in movies and games. The meaning it brought to me made me think repeatedly about how people adjust their mentality in difficult situations. Although black humor may be negative and represent indifference, for me it at least brings me a possibility. So in my works, I prefer to express more realistic and cruel things in a relaxed way.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I work as a designer. My main business is product packaging and illustration design. I think the best thing about it is that it is full of creativity, and my clients come from various industries, including shopping malls, clothing, food, etc. The most exciting thing is that you can see the different effects of different industry rules and needs in different industries. My design homepage on Instagram is Illumcube, which is also the main business of my company. It publishes some designs about tobacco products. I am also currently working with Wanda and IKEA stores in China to design food areas.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The past always brings me different experiences. If there is a quality, it is the quality of openness and tolerance, because you never know what surprises people with different experiences from you have brought you. In terms of skills, constantly getting in touch with new software, such as Midjourney and Chatgpt, has helped me make my designs more efficient. Another thing is to get in touch with slow knowledge, because short videos or listening will never be as good as what you experience yourself, and getting in touch with first-hand resources is more important than anything else.

I would like to work with people who are full of action and willing to learn. If possible, I don’t need you to have good design experience, but it would be best if you can achieve the final design effect through communication and running-in.
