We recently connected with Ximena Morales and have shared our conversation below.
Ximena , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I believe I’ve always had a great work ethic. However, when it’s your business that work ethic goes up a whole nother level. The goal is for our customers to have a stress-free and pleasant experience working with us from start to end. This means from the initial call to when the technicians are doing the installation. There has to be great communication all around. At times it can become challenging because customer service is not always easy. What I have noticed helps is having weekly or even monthly meetings with your team and discussing how we can improve as a team.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My main focus is our customers. My job begins with discussing our client’s needs and providing ideas and different options for their event. Every event is different and every client has a unique taste. We have clients who know exactly what they want and we have others that have never hosted an event before. I help facilitate the process for our clients no matter how big or small their event is. The most special part of my job is hearing positive feedback when our client’s events are over.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Advice that I would give to someone who is just starting is to have patience, it takes time to grow a clientele. Treat each client the best way possible and they will refer you to their family and friends. Slowly, you will start receiving more and more referrals and your clientele will begin to grow. Another quality that is important is being organized. At times, clients will change their orders, and it’s important you know every change the client makes. Lastly, is being confident. Be confident in your knowledge, your creativity, and your work. Clients will trust you because you know what you are doing.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Having a community within your industry is very helpful. It is so easy to relate and conversate with people who go through the same things as you. If I have a question or need help with something I call one of our vendor friends and get advice and vice versa. It’s nice to bounce off ideas with other people in your industry.
