We recently connected with Yadira Torralba and have shared our conversation below.
Yadira, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I love to take classes and to absorb as much information from others! I also like to watch and rewatch color/haircut classes because I can learn new techniques and get inspired by other Artists.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Im 32 years old, born and raise here in beautiful San Diego, coffee lover and such a foodie ! During the day I work at the salon. I’m behind the chair-doing hair, love spending time with my clients!!
During the evenings, I work a Beauty Academy as a Cosmetology Educator and most of my free time, I spend it with my family and friends.
My twin sister, Sadira (@Sayanailz ) and I share salon suite where we most times than not, tag team!
She does pedicures and manicures, while I take care of hair; whether it’s Color, Haircuts, Smoothing Keratin Treatments and or Deep Conditioning Treatments as well as Blow Drys.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three Qualities: Be Patient: we’re our own biggest critics
Stay Positive ♥️
Be Passionate: always remember why you started!
I like surround myself with people who have similar goals to mine and I remind myself why I started. We are our own biggest critics, but we are also our own biggest cheerleader!
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
This is a great question, the moment I start feeling like I can’t even stand myself lol or cannot hear my self talk anymore-that’s when I know I need some me time. I typically like to be outdoors, go for walk, grab a coffee and people watch.
I need to recharge and breathe fresh air, or sit at the beach.
Then after a few hours, I’m ready to get back to my daily routine. Taking some time off and disconnecting for a few days is mandatory.
