We were lucky to catch up with Yahaira Flores recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yahaira, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
It comes from looking at the goal from a different perspective. Not everyone can afford to invest time and money on something they aren’t sure they’ll be passionate about. That’s why it’s important for me to provide affordable brow online courses, before making the full commitment.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I started InkBeautyLA in the middle of a pandemic, as a first-time mom and full-time college student.
Our goal is to teach other women, stay at home moms or college students who are interested in becoming brow artist that they can do so affordability with an on-line course, once they decide if it’s something they are willing to pursue, I help them get started and guide them through the beginning of their brow artist journey.
Being a Latina brow artist and educator has also been an advantage to many women, they are able to access brow courses in Spanish. From first-hand experience, it was difficult for me to translate all the material that I was thought in Spanish for my Spanish-speaking clientele, fortunately, my students do not have to worry about that.
That’s my perspective as a brow educator, now as a brow artist— I love the craft! It’s been a pleasure to meet so many wonderful women and their stories and all because they booked their brow appointment with me. I think about my clients quite often and always hope them the best at life, truly grateful for them!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Know your audience. Wether they require special accommodations or language barriers, make sure you set yourself up for that success! 2. It takes time. It takes time to know which technique/products/procedure works best for you. Do not be afraid to try something new, you might end up loving the results!
3. Your words matter. Kindness goes a long way, change their day for the better once they sit on that chair for the appointment!
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Being able to transform in-person courses— online. It was a challenge trying to get that information out as clear as possible for those learning remote. However, I’ve received such positive feedback and that has been a moment of growth for InkBeautyLA.
