We recently connected with Yakira Muhammad and have shared our conversation below.
Yakira , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my family. My parents have worked my whole life and I grew up in a family that had to work for the things they want in life. Being the second to the youngest of six children, I always seen my older siblings working towards their goals and dreams. Since I’m a very ambitious person, this came naturally for me as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a writer and I recently expanded to writing stage plays. I love to spotlight my community by crafting stories that highlight the everyday lives of people in my community. I have an upcoming play performance for my one act play called The Maskless Elevator in New York in January 2026. I’m excited to bring stories about the black community to life. Also, I’m launching a podcast with my sister to connect with other writers, actors, entrepreneurs and have them tell their stories and help inspire other artists.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The first quality would be self confidence. No one is going to believe in you more than you believe in yourself. It takes confidence to go after your dreams and confidence is something that you have to build by getting out of your comfort zone.
Communication is key in every industry. Learn how to communicate with others. That means get out and network. Even if you’re afraid or reserved. The most successful people’ are great communicators.
Lastly, have fun. If you do not love what you’re doing, then maybe take a break. If it’s not fun, then try something else for a while. That doesn’t mean give up.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, I’m always looking for other writers, actors, or entrepreneurs for my podcast, or to cast actors/actresses in readings and performances. Feel free to reach out on TikTok or Instagram. TikTok: @Kiratakes Instagram:yakirasamira
