Yalamba, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity comes from my mother. I grew up watching her give to people without batting an eye. She always taught me that giving was most certainly better than receiving.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a beautician located in the outskirts of Houston TX. I pride myself on being multifaceted within the beauty industry. I love what I do, and truly enjoy learning new skills that will sharpen my gifts.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I truly believe rejection, constructive criticism, and support from clients were the most impactful in the beginning of my journey! I needed to be told no in order for my confidence, and self esteem to be built up. Often times in the beginning you can set expectations too high if you’re not willing to be taught. Being able to take advice from clients in regards to where I needed to improve in my craft was difficult. I do believe if I wasn’t willing to be an active listener, and student I wouldn’t be where I am currently. The best advice I can give to those first starting off is sitting with individuals that have been where you are, and are actively in roles that you see yourself in the future.

I am truly big on collaboration. I am looking to connect with others in the beauty industry, not just in Houston but globally. The range can be from photographers, models, hairstylist, graphic designers, news anchors etc
