We recently connected with Yamithsou Corley and have shared our conversation below.
Yamithsou , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
This is a question with many layers. Every layer is equally deserving of attention.
I have always felt genuinely connected to people, and through life I noticed people naturally gravitate towards me as well. It’s almost as if, my presence is a gravitational force that convinces people to instantly confide their life’s many predicament without formerly making prior acquaintances with me. It is a fascinating gift, and it can be rewarding but equally as exhausting. I have come to realize that, not everyone that approached me with a story benefitted me. Instead, I realized internalizing other people’s ailments as my own was becoming toxic.
I had to learn how to protect my own energy by establishing boundaries to protect my overall well-being.
Being a Special Education teacher was definitely a “calling” as they say throughout my whole life. My profession definitely chose me, but it certainly isn’t where my story ends. For me, it was a detoured journey to finding my souls true passion as a writer. My true craft as a writer didn’t emerge until Covid. In addition to coping with a worldwide pandemic, I was also surviving through my mother’s recuperation from a recent surgery after her diagnosis of colon cancer. After watching her health deteriorate after several months sessions of chemotherapy, I found hope, faith, and a voice in poetry.
So, here in the hallowness of grief, is when my true purpose
emerged.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Being a Special Education Teacher has its advantages, it has kept me humble. Over the years, I have given my heart and soul to the community. As a poet, or writer as well as a motivational speaker, I would like to find my voice and equally contribute to the Art world community. Since launching my account on Instagram under the pen name of ” The White Oracle” , I have gained valuable insight from fellow poets and writers whose critique and guidance has helped me achieve an artistic vision and discover
My own true personal style as a poet.
All the commentary was very insightful on my journey to obtaining a signature niche as a poet.
Consistency and perseverance have been key to maintaining my success as a poet. Exposure to diverse poetic styles and art forms has helped shape my unique voice, allowing me to refine my craft and evolve as a writer.
What excites me most about being a poet or writer is having the ability to create a moment or world in which people can escape into through a rich tapestry of words. Essentially, creating a window in which the boundaries of reality and fantasy are blurred. My poems immerse readers in the imperfections and complexities of life, veiling profound truths in subtle nuances.
To expand my poetic reach, I am currently developing a website that will showcase my work on Wix.com under the domain name (www.thewhiteoracle.com) My website will present a curated selection of my early works, culminating in the launch of my forthcoming poetry book, Whispers Behind Closed Doors, in Fall 2025.”
This emerging collection delves into the complexities of the human experience, weaving together threads of vulnerability, self-discovery, and resilience.
I invite readers to join me on this captivating journey, and welcome them to explore the depths of my poetry, where love and vulnerability meets truth.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities, or areas of knowledge is definitely never be too afraid to learn new concepts or ideas. I think research and knowledge is key to evolving as a writer. It can be very impactful towards enhancing your work on your journey as a writer. There is a motto that I often say that has seen me through many difficult times in my life as a writer. It was said by commander Hannibal in Latin ” Aut Viam Inveniam Aut Faciam meaning ” I will either find a way or make one” as a true writer or poet, you should never be afraid to create your own path, there is much to discover about yourself and your creativity when you explore paths that are less traveled or that have not been created at all. Always be true to yourself.
Being a writer or poet is a perilous journey, but my passion to write far exceeds any obstacles I could ever face. while navigating through the ups and downs of the writing process, which can be an emotional journey. I have come to value the importance of self care, and mindfulness that plays a major role with keeping me grounded in my sanity.
Embracing uncertainty or taking risks and stepping outside of your comfort zone can lead to surprising breakthroughs and growth as a writer. So, make sure to take some risks even if it doesn’t appeal to all your audiences or readers.
Discovering your unique voice as a writer requires embracing your quirks and imperfections, and writing from a place of authenticity. The key is to always embrace who you are so your readers can always feel they can resonate with you.
In the end, writing is a journey that requires dedication, resilience, and a willingness to take risks. By embracing uncertainty, staying true to oneself and continuously learning and growing writers can unlock their full potential and create work that truly resonate with others.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The challenges I currently face is managing anxiety and writer’s block, which can hinder my creative flow. To overcome this, I have developed a more effective time management system; breaking larger projects into smaller tasks. This will allow me to focus on one task at a time. Refining my sentence structure and varying sentence lengths will help me convey my thoughts more effectively by avoiding repetition when faced with writer’s block. As previously mentioned, incorporating mindfulness exercises, into my daily routine has helped with keeping my mind calm and has also increased productivity.
By implementing these techniques, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my ability to stay focused and creative, even when faced with challenging topics or tight deadlines.
