Meet Yana Shmuliver

We were lucky to catch up with Yana Shmuliver recently and have shared our conversation below.

Yana, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose on the streets of Skid Row in Los Angeles over 35 years ago when I was homeless!

I knew when I landed in the circumstances of darkness the I would be the LIGHT for people in need.

When my life at such a young age turned quickly left I knew I had only once that I could turn to and that was my God. While being on Skid Row I only had I ask….GOD if you get me out of here I will work for you!

My Purpose has been and continues to be working for HIM as I promised 3 decades ago helping thousands of people.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the Founder & Executive Director of K.A.U.S.E.-Karing Advocates United for Social Equality an all volunteer based 501c3 Nonprofit Charity.

K.A.U.S.E. is a quick action response organization offering support services to men, women and children throughout the L.A. area now in its 13th Year of Service we are just getting started!

The most exciting part is our expansion! In the last 8 years we have grown from a 2 car garage, to a classroom, to a 2,200 sq foot space in a shopping center, to 3 locations in 3 different parks to a WAREHOUSE in 2026! That’s God at its finest with a sprinkle of alot of hard work, dedication, community support.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities and skills that have been the most impactful in our growth have been a strong Entrepreneurial Spirit to succeed under immense pressure, continuous business relationship building and Perseverance to strive to higher heights.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

Our number one challenge has been and remains is DONATIONS.

We are 100% Volunteer based organization that means NO SALARIES. We run a very tight and lean operation with basic expenses and struggle to pay rent, electricity and internet all basic business expenses that are required to keep our doors open and serve the people that need us the most.

We are excited for our expansion into a few zip codes in hopes that more business and corporate entities will sponsor us because truly Together We are the Difference.
