Meet Yasir Abdulqader

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yasir Abdulqader. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yasir below.

Yasir , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I got my resilience from my background as a refugee who arrived to the USA 15 years ago , and took me few years to work on re-certifying my medical degree from overseas to be able to practice medicine here in the states.
These years of studying & accommodating to the new community provided me with the skills & power to draw my pathway here in the states & believe that everything is possible.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a Physician , practicing in one of the hospitals here in Phoenix area… As a physician , I always struggled with finding a good fitting scrubs sets to wear during the long hours shifts we work inside the hospital.
All the available scrubs these days are classic & look a like, one color sets , with a wide V neck that most of the time people need to wear a second layer underneath to hide the area of the wide V neck.

So, wearing such multiple layers ( scrubs, shirt underneath, lab coat, etc..) just add more burden on the practicing providers or nurses who spend many hours working especially in a hot city like Phoenix.

So, I came up with a new design where you can hit more than one thing with one style… I came up with TANGOSCRUBS.
Providing a new look , modern, stylish medical scrubs, plus a new design collar that helped dealing with the wide V neck issue that many professionals suffer from.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Being in a medical field & a practicing medical professional, helped me discovering the areas that needed to be improved in my career , even if it was a simple one, as long as it helps solving a problem that my colleagues struggle with.

One advice to folks who has any idea in their mind that they feel can help them & others to improve their life or working environment, Go ahead & work on it, believe in it, & execute it.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

One of the challenges would be the many competitors in the medical scrubs world.
