Meet Yasmin Elzomor

We recently connected with Yasmin Elzomor and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Yasmin , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I’ve earned my resilience through facing obstacles and challenges rather than avoiding or running away from them. I had a spontaneous spiritual awakening at the age of 21 and that forced me to face myself. At the time, I was working a lot and making tons of money but I felt deeply unfulfilled. I was in an unhealthy relationship and I was surrounded by friends and people that didn’t really see the real me. My life felt very superficial. I didn’t want to admit it to myself and I thought that I could keep hiding from the truth…but eventually the veil was lifted and I saw things for what they were. It was a difficult time and I felt lonely, lost and desperate for answers — it was a time in my life where I really had to learn to trust and rely on myself. I felt like I was drowning and everything was burning down right in front of my eyes, but I knew that I had it in me to rise from the ashes and recreate myself in better and more powerful ways. I started doing the inner work to become a more authentic and integrated individual. I had to let go of many people and beliefs. I had to grieve the old version of myself and say goodbye to everything I thought I was. Although I’ve experienced hardship, I’m grateful that through the difficulties that life has thrown at me I’ve become stronger and have the emotional capacity to face the world head on no matter what happens.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

The hardest question of all! I do SO many different things — I wear many creative hats and I enjoy every moment of it all. I’m a life coach, author, speaker, photographer, model, and dancer. I don’t necessarily believe in labeling myself as one thing because I believe that humans are multidimensional and multifaceted. We have the capacity to be and do many different things. I don’t attach myself to labels but I attach myself to a mission, and that mission is to remind people of their power + sovereignty and help them to tap into their creative essence. No matter what I do and how I do it — whether it’s through coaching or dancing, I want to inspire others to explore their highest potential in whatever way feels authentic to them. Exploring my own creativity has granted me so much peace and freedom; it’s a blessing to be able to say that my art has helped me transform. It has allowed me to discover different sides of myself and I’ve become so much more integrated in who I truly am.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I would say the three qualities that helped me on my journey have been integrity, courage, and kindness. When you’re on a journey of personal development, it can be challenging to embody these qualities. Integrity can feel shaky in moments when you’re comfortable but out of alignment. Courage can be non existent when you’re stuck in fear about the future and the unknown. Kindness towards yourself and others can easily be forgotten if you’ve experienced hardship and if you carry resentment towards the world. I’ve had to work hard at keeping these qualities strong throughout my journey, and I haven’t been perfect but I’ve done my best to embody these aspects and it’s made my journey so much easier. I think it’s important that we show ourselves grace when we’re on the path to self mastery because being human isn’t always fun and easy. There’s challenges and obstacles along the way, but we have to be willing to face it all with a calm composure and plenty of faith. A bonus quality (and one of my favorites) that I’ve also learned to incorporate on my path is humor! If we can’t find the humor in the journey and if we can’t laugh at ourselves, then we aren’t truly living and experiencing life.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

My parents are an absolute gift and I’m grateful that I can say that. They’ve done so many amazing things but I think the most impactful thing they did for me is they provided me stability and peace. I grew up in a household that felt safe and generally grounded. My parents had their own flaws and their own traumas, but they always did their best to show up for me in the ways that they could. They provided me a home with food on the table and they supported me in becoming the person I am today. They also showed me what true unconditional love means through their marriage — the love that they share is special and it’s something I aspire to have and create in the future. Now that I’m older, I understand how important it is to have a strong and connected family unit and how healing that is not just for us as individuals, but for the collective.
