Meet Yasmine Bedward

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yasmine Bedward a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Yasmine, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I discovered my purpose after watching, Elizabeth Gilbert: Don’t Chase Your Passion And Maybe You’ll Find It on Super Soul Sessions. In her speech about Jackhammers vs Hummingbirds, Elizabeth explains how hummingbirds cross-pollinate the world by feeding from different environments. Hearing that speech gave me the last bit of courage I needed to follow my curiosity, which led me to my purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I meet people wherever they are in the world and help them create content for their personal brand, blog or business. The best part about my job is that no matter where I am in the world, as long as there’s wifi I can get work done. However, that 24/7 work ethic is often expected of someone working in the digital marketing realm and even though it seems manageable at first, it isn’t sustainable. I’m thrilled to have found clients who match my creative rhythm, pace and style.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Being able to achieve a simple goal was important to me because I knew that if I could do something as small as taking out the trash, I could eventually start a trash business. Not because one thing leads to the other but because I need to get the small things done first to get confidence to keep going after something bigger. It’s like when you plan to read 1 book a year and you end up reading 6.

Being intentional about people I keep close to me is also important. Not just personally, my professional circle is tight, too. And a skill we should always keep is the desire to learn and what you learn, teach.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents ever did for me was raise me on 2 different continents. Besides being able to speak 3 different types of English, I grew up watching so many cultures coexist which made it possible for me to relate to so many different kinds of clients, brands, and creators. Not only has travel impacted how I show up in the world, it deeply inspires my work.
