Yassine , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I have developed my greatest resilience from the powerful women in my life including my grandmother, mother, two sisters, and now my fiance. Growing up in Morocco, I saw my mother working incredibly hard to support us. She worked at the first Addidas factory in North Africa, sewing the leather for the sneakers. She would have to travel and work at the factory for three to four days before returning home. During this time, I saw my oldest sister take over the duties of caring for us and the household. I saw her give up important parts of her childhood to hold this responsibility for us. In time, I saw how we all came together to care for my grandmother in her final years until she passed at the age of 108. She was an incredible woman who taught me the true meaning of resilience as she was diagnosed with both Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons disease but continued to astonish her doctors as she controlled the symptoms of these illnesses well into her final years and continued to be a pillar of strength and wisdom in the family.
Now, as I begin to build my own family, I am engaged to an incredible woman who recently earned her doctorate in Psychology. She has been the guiding force behind the startup of our own business focused on supporting individuals in defining their unique journey of healing and self-development. She has supported me in finding the next stage of my life, as I bring together my skills and passions as a fitness professional.
These are just some examples of the sacrifices I have seen the women in my life make and the amazing things they have done for others. I remain amazed at how they have faced everything in their life with grace, love, and power. Their ability to face the challenges of life and transform them into love and joy inspires me every day to do the same and never give up, no matter the difficulties I experience.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Currently, my life is fully focused on health, fitness, and the development of the business my partner and I have started, Therapeutic Fitness, which is a holistic and integrative wellness space dedicated to empowering people in achieving their greatest health as a means of realizing their most successful life.
Our journey to building Therapeutic Fitness was fueled by a shared dream of achieving the freedom to follow our deepest passions: helping others lead their best lives by achieving health in mind, body, and soul. Inspired by our own experiences—overcoming challenges like anxiety, depression, loss, and a search for purpose—we created Therapeutic Fitness to offer a path toward balance, resilience, and self-discovery for others. Our mission is to support others in their health journeys so they, too, can thrive in all areas of life
At Therapeutic Fitness, our philosophy is rooted in the understanding that human beings are dynamic and complex, calling for intentional, nuanced, and adaptive approaches to health. We believe that true health goes beyond a fit body or sharp mind; it’s about nurturing a harmonious balance between the two. This equilibrium serves as the foundation for your most authentic, fulfilling, and joyful self-expression.
Each aspect of health—nutrition, mindfulness, physical activity—plays a crucial role in unlocking a richer life experience and empowering you to achieve true self-mastery. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, I can confidently say that authenticity, curiosity, and confidence have been my most essential qualities. Authenticity has allowed me to let my most unique qualities shine, which I have found fundamental for forming deep connections and finding fulfillment in my journey of self-expression. Curiosity has helped me transform challenges into opportunities for growth, helping me to view each experience not as a setback, but as a lesson in what’s possible and what can be learned from it. Confidence has been equally vital, giving me the courage to take steps I might otherwise have feared. I found that often my mind would convince me that I needed to wait for perfection before acting; but developing greater confidence has helped push me to leap even when things weren’t fully “figured out,” and that’s what has truly accelerated my growth and brought me closer to my goals.
For anyone beginning their journey, my advice would be to carefully curate the content you consume. In today’s world, we’re constantly bombarded by messages on social media, in ads, and through others’ opinions. Without mindful selection, we risk absorbing messages that hold us back, fanning insecurity, fear, or doubt. Surround yourself with positive, goal-oriented content that resonates with your values—messages that remind you of the power of authenticity, curiosity, and confidence. This helps you nurture these qualities in your own life naturally, just by shifting what you expose yourself to daily. In this way, we train our minds gradually toward the traits we want to embody, and we find that our path forward becomes more empowering and clear.
