We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yebo Moyo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Yebo, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Confidence, for me, has never been rooted in surface-level affirmations—it has emerged through consistent, measurable evidence. There’s a quote by Alex Hormozi that resonates deeply with me: “You don’t become confident by shouting affirmations in the mirror, but by having a stack of undeniable proof that you are who you say you are.” Through consistent effort and alignment with my core values, I accumulated experiential proof that reinforced my sense of identity. Confidence, then, became less about perception and more about integrity—knowing I can trust myself because of the degree of congruency between my reality and my idealized self.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am the co-founder of a private events company that convenes high-performers across industries to craft unforgettable experiences. We do not own venues, we transform them—curating atmospheres that inspire connection, sophistication, and excellence. Additionally, I serve as a business consultant, guiding entrepreneurs through the intricate process of building compelling personal brands—integrating marketing, sales, and strategy into a cohesive and authentic presence.
What most excites me is the transformative power of human connection and its profound capacity to elevate both personal and professional lives. Whether through a meticulously designed event or a brand that resonates deeply with its creator, I am driven by the pursuit of moments that leave people changed—more confident, more connected, and more aligned with their higher potential.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that shaped my journey most were perspicacity, ingenuity, and audaciousness. Perspicacity allowed me to see beneath the surface—whether in people, opportunities, or challenges—and make thoughtful, strategic decisions. Ingenuity pushed me to find creative solutions in uncertain moments by viewing obstacles as opportunities to think differently. Audaciousness gave me the courage to take bold steps before I felt fully ready. To cultivate these traits, start by doing challenging things on purpose—sharpen your perception, stay curious, and regularly choose the path that stretches you.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
One book that’s had the greatest impact on my development is the Bible. Beyond its spiritual significance, it’s given me a framework for how to live with purpose and integrity. One of the most powerful ideas I’ve taken from it is that strength comes through surrender—not to weakness, but to a higher standard and calling. It’s also taught me that identity isn’t rooted in what you achieve, but in who you are when no one’s watching. Principles like stewardship, humility, and perseverance have shaped how I work, lead, and live.
