Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yesenia Hernandez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Yesenia with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I definitely get this from my parents. They are both hard, amazing workers. They both have been with their companies 20+ years and are recognized hard workers. My mom is super woman. Full time worker, home maker, and is always there for us to help. My dad is outstanding! He can fix anything and always finds a way to figure out a problem. He is always there to help anyone that needs it.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I specialize in custom cake pops, I have a licensed home bakery. I do custom orders and markets when I can. I love creating anything into a cake pop, every idea is very much welcomed. I love when customers admire my pop but also complement the taste. A treat should be beautiful as well as delicious. With Fall coming I am excited to have new flavors I don’t offer throughout the year. Also, I’ll have lots of sharable treats for Thanksgiving and the Holiday season. In early 2025 I hope to be able to upgrade my license and be able to have my pops at local coffee shops. This has been a goal I’ve been wanting to accomplish for a while.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I am really good at multi tasking and problem solving . I think those 2 skills together make me really efficient and let me juggle everything around me. I also think being open to learning new skills and practicing them have helped along the way. I have improved some of my designs drastically!
I would tell someone just starting off keep going, keep practicing and invest in yourself! What I tell my kids is practice makes better, there’s always room to be better. Know your capacity and know your limits. Don’t be afraid to have to restart something. I’ve remade so many orders because I knew I could improve them.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would love to start connecting with coffee shops and maybe indoor play grounds. I would love to build those partnerships so when I do upgrade my license I’ll have better chance to be able to have them sell my product. That has always been my overall goal and I know I’ll get there. Send me an email or a DM!
