Yissendy, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I’ve developed my confidence and self-esteem through a combination of self-reflection and recognition of my achievements. I’ve dedicated a lot of time to personal growth, acknowledging that no one is perfect and that we all make mistakes. I’ve also come to understand that our past experiences can impact our confidence and self-esteem. When I find myself grappling with self-doubt, I remind myself of where I come from and everything I have accomplished on my own. The determination and passion I have for what I do have been instrumental in building my confidence. By focusing on my successes and the perseverance that led me to achieve them, I’ve been able to cultivate a deeper belief in myself.

What I feel is most exciting and special about my journey is the incredible evolution that has taken place since I first started as an actress 13 years ago. From my humble beginnings in Boston, MA, to now living and thriving in the heart of the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, I’ve had the opportunity to not only act but also to write, produce, and direct. This journey has been filled with challenges, but also with moments of incredible growth and achievement.
One of the most memorable experiences in my career was working alongside A-list actors such as Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie in the film “Babylon,” where I played the role of Carmelita. This experience was truly inspiring and has motivated me to continue pursuing my passion for directing, especially after having the privilege of witnessing Damien Chazelle’s masterful direction on set.
In addition to my work in film, I also took the time to share my experiences and insights by writing a book titled “Aim for the Stars: The Keys to Reaching the Sky.” This book reflects my desire to inspire and motivate others to pursue their dreams, no matter their age or circumstances. I believe that it’s never too late to reach for the stars and achieve one’s aspirations.
Overall, my brand is a reflection of perseverance, creativity, and a commitment to inspiring others. I am dedicated to continuing to push boundaries, tell compelling stories, and empower individuals to pursue their passions, no matter the obstacles they may face.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, versatility, and networking. My advice for those starting out is to cultivate resilience to navigate challenges, embrace versatility to expand skills, and prioritize networking to build valuable connections and opportunities. These qualities are essential for long-term success in the entertainment industry.
