Hi Yossi, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Growing up as a deaf child in a predominantly hearing environment presented unique challenges, but it also significantly contributed to the development of my confidence and self-esteem. Navigating a world not fully tailored to accommodate my needs taught me resilience and the importance of self-advocacy. Each interaction, whether it involved finding innovative ways to communicate or educating others about deaf culture, reinforced my sense of identity and purpose. These experiences cultivated a strong sense of independence and a belief in my own capabilities, as I learned to embrace my differences and turn them into strengths. This journey not only built my confidence but also instilled a profound respect for diversity and the value of perspective in all areas of life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Based in Irvine, CA, I specialize in mixed media artworks and sculptures. My artistic explorations revolve around the use of monochromatic and color schemes and how variations in light, time of day, and shadows influence the viewer’s perception.

My journey began with experimenting with 2D and 3D shapes crafted from diverse materials such as clay, fabric, glass, paper, and wood. Currently, my focus is on creating three-dimensional works predominantly using paper and acrylic on paper. These pieces originate from geometric computer models that are subsequently twisted and folded to create multifaceted three-dimensional forms.

My creations frequently engage with architectural themes and basic geometric shapes—such as squares, pyramids, and boxes. I explore these shapes, spaces, and forms in unconventional and sometimes whimsical ways. Passionate about discovering new methods of expression, I am particularly drawn to 3D Tessellations, which involve arranging shapes in tightly fitting, repeated patterns without any gaps or overlaps.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I possess a distinctive combination of skills that significantly enrich my life and creative pursuits, particularly in the realm of art. Patience stands as one of my core strengths, allowing me to meticulously work through the detailed processes required in creating and perfecting my artworks, ensuring each piece conveys the intended message and aesthetic. My imagination fuels my creativity, providing a boundless source of ideas and perspectives that I transform into tangible expressions through various artistic mediums. Furthermore, my deep passion for art not only drives my continuous engagement with different forms and styles but also keeps me connected to both contemporary developments and historical influences in the art world. These skills collectively empower me to create unique and impactful art that resonates with diverse audiences.

My partner has been an invaluable pillar of support in my journey towards success, especially in the challenging realms of art and business. Due to my hearing disability, he had also been instrumental in building relationships, often reaching out to customers and galleries on my behalf, which has significantly expanded my network and exposure. Whether I’m facing creative blocks or the pressures of deadlines, his encouragement and belief in my abilities help me navigate these challenges with confidence and resilience.
