We caught up with the brilliant and insightful YOSSI MACHLUF a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
YOSSI, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
well this is an excelent question these days due to social media its actually easier since creative ideas from all over the world are being available to us more than ever due to facebook or instagram
so when i have a new challange in my line of work i take a look at pics / videos or even movies
i see an idea and i am kinda taking it to the next level
cause today we are not defined by concept or restricted by it we can do what we want and in food styling that is basicly everything .
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
MY NAME IS YOSSI MACHLUF I AM THE OWNER OF – ” YOS – FOOD WITH AN ATTITUDE ” FOR MANY YEARS I WAS A PRIVATE CHEF WORKING IN PRIVATE HOUSES AND DOING CONCEPTUAL EVENTS
BUT ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO I STARTED A NEW JOURNEY – I HAVE BECOME A FOOD STYLIST
FOR MANY YEARS I WAS THE ONE COOKING BAKING CUTTING ETC…
NOW I AM WORKING WITH TALENTED CHEFS AND MY JOB IS TO STYLE THEIR FOOD – IN ANOTHER WORDS I AM THE ONE THAT BRING THEIR FOOD TO LIFE.
MY PROFFESION IS QUITE NEW TO THE INDUSTRY AS MOST CATERERS/ CHEFS USED TO BRING THEIR OWN DECOR TO EVENTS BUT IN THE PAST FEW YEARS DUE TO SOCIAL NETWROK AND THE INVOLEMENT OF EVENT PRODUCER WITH EVENT CONCEPT , CATERERS NEEDED TO UP THEIR GAME AS WELL
AND I WAS THE PERFECT FIT TO START MY BRAND AS TODAY BEFORE PPL ARE EATING THE FOOD THEY FIRST TAKE PICTURES .
SO IN EASY WORDS I AM FOOD EVENT COORDINATOR 🙂
AND IN MY LINE OF WORK THERE ARE NO 2 EVENTS THAT ARE THE SAME WHICH MAKE MY JOB ALOT OF FUN CAUSE IT ALWAYS CHALLANGE ME .
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I CANT SPEAK FOR OTHER PROFFESIONS BUT IN MY LINE OF WORK THE 3 MOST IMPORTANTS SKILLS ARE : HONESTY
GENEROSITY
AND DRIVE
HONESTY CAUSE U ARE WORKING WITH PEOPLE AND U HAVE ALSO A TEAM – AND TRUST IS EVERTHING U DONT OVERCHARGE AND U PAY UR TEAM AT THE END OF THE EVENT OTHERWISE YOU WONT LAST IN THE JOB .
GENEROSITY – FOOD IS ABOUT GENEROSITY IF U ARE NOT A GIVER IN YOUR NATURE AND TRYING TO SAVE ON THE CUSTOMER HE IS GONNA FEEL IT RIGHT AWAY BUT IF YOU ARE GENEROUS WITH UR FOOD THE JOB IS GONNA KEEP COMING
DRIVE – BEING GREAT AT WHAT YOU DO WILL TAKE A LOT OF TIME BUT IF YOU HAVE IT IN YOU THE SKY IS THE LIMIT
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
I LOVE WHEN CLIENTS ARE EXCITED WHEN YOU SEE THAT SPARK IN THEIR EYES .
WHEN THE CLIENT IS GIVING ME HIS FULL SUPPORT TO DO WHATEVER I WANT AT HIS EVENT THATS WHEN I CREATE MY BEST DESIGNS
MOST CLIENTS WILL LOOK AT THE BUDGET BUT THE ONES THAT DONT CARE AND THEY JUST WANT THE BEST – THOSE ARE MY FAVORITES
