Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Young Maestro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Young , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from watching my mom have to take the bus and train to work for years and also from my dad who started a million dollar business.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’ve been producing since the age of 12 and became a recording artist at age 16. I’ve been very fortunate to work with the likes of Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, Dr. Dre and other big names throughout my career and I’m not extremely grateful. I’ve also had the honor of being on MTV, BET, and hundreds of radio stations nationwide from a song I had with rapper “YG”. Currently I’m developing and mentoring artist on what it takes to make it in the music industry. I have multiple shows lined up for this summer all around Los Angeles and I will be posting on my social media accounts
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The main skill that got me the success that I have is getting piano lessons. I was able to build and make harmonies after that which helped me become the producer I am today. Also, I had great mentors that showed me how to engineer, sing, and everything else I needed to know to know about music. The advice I have for people that are early in their journey is to ask questions and be around people that are successful in the field you’re pursuing. The more you know the more you can do and you can market yourself to be more successful.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My dad was the most helpful person that got me through a lot and protected me from a lot in this industry. Everything I needed musically he got it done for me. If I needed a vocal coach, he got it done. If I needed a voice recording booth, he got one built. I’m very fortunate that I had someone in my corner that was also my parent pushing for my success and my growth.
