Meet Yu Vitor

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yu Vitor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Yu, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

for me it’s just continue what you doing and build up experience.
I believe the key is to carefully choose what information to incorporate into myself.
I think it’s also very important not to incorporate information that makes your heart depressed or negative. While feedback and advice are essential for growth, it’s crucial to filter out anything that doesn’t resonate with your core values or that could hinder your confidence.
It’s essential to make a constant effort to discipline yourself. Throughout my journey, I’ve experienced both good and bad moments, but what keeps me grounded is practicing Chinese martial arts and calming my mind.
Believe your self and keep going with the flow.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is YuVitor. I’m artist based in LA.

Chinese Martial Arts…
・The martial arts I’ve learned are traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations, and my teacher is a well-known master in China. I’ve been into this martial art for 12 years, and I teach it too.
If I wanted to be an action star, I knew I had to learn legit techniques and get really strong.
I think it’s my strength.

Acting.
・When it comes to acting, I spent about five years learning all kinds of techniques. Then I combined them in my own way and figured out what worked best for me.
I think this is what makes me special.

Music.
・I grew up listening to samba and hip-hop and got exposed to a bunch of different languages. I feel like my music is something anyone can enjoy, no matter the language. The rhythms and genres are all over the place, totally mixed up. Honestly, I just love all kinds of music.
I think this is what makes my musics special as well.

Action.
・I’ve always wanted to do my own stunts and action scenes, so I trained for about six years in Japan with professionals, learning stage combat and stunts. Now, I can handle most of it myself.

Since I was a kid, I decided that by the time I got to America, I’d be ready to work as a pro.
And now, here I am, actually working in this industry. Honestly, I just want to take a moment to appreciate myself for getting here.
I believe anyone can do it if they put their mind to it.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

”Language”
When I started learning acting in English, I realized how lucky I was to have grown up speaking two languages. It really helped me pick up on English slang and nuances more quickly. I’m still learning, of course, but I have to say, I owe a lot of that to my mom.

”My Physical Abilities”
I’m really thankful that I’ve been training in gymnastics and martial arts since as far back as I can remember.
It’s given me the ability to adapt and learn new physical skills quickly, which is such a huge advantage in what I do.

”Personality.”
The values my parents taught me—like the importance of how to treat others and what it means to be a good person—are still helping me to this day. Thanks to those lessons, I’ve been able to build great relationships, get opportunities for work, and have friends who are there for me when I need help. I’m truly grateful for that foundation they gave me.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I’m looking!
I think it’s really important to have friends who enjoy doing fun and creative things together. When everyone is working hard toward the same goal, it feels like you can make something amazing. And if problems come up, you can figure them out together as a team. It’s all about supporting each other and making the process enjoyable.
I’m looking for people to make
movies or create music with—producers, directors, writers, rappers, musicians, anyone! If you’re interested, just hit me up on my Instagram, mail or from my website.
