Meet Yuliia Babych

We recently connected with Yuliia Babych and have shared our conversation below.

Yuliia , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by constantly staying connected to real life, nature, and people.
My work is freehand botanical tattooing, so I don’t rely on pre-drawn designs — every piece is created directly on the skin. To do that, I have to keep my “creative muscles” active all the time.

For me, creativity grows when I move, travel, meet new clients, and see new places. Even small things — a walk, a plant I notice, a conversation — can become part of a new tattoo.
Creativity is not something you “wait for”. It’s something you build by staying curious, observant, and open to the world.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a freehand botanical tattoo artist, and I’ve been working in this field for more than 11 years. My artistic focus is creating custom floral and nature-inspired tattoos directly on the skin without any pre-drawn designs. Every piece is built on the client’s body shape, movement, and personality, which makes my work very organic and unique.

What excites me most is the freedom of drawing directly on the skin — it feels like having a real-time conversation with the body, its forms, scars, and stories. I specialize in large-scale floral work, full sleeves, legs, and freehand scar-covering projects. Transforming someone’s body and helping them feel confident again is one of the most meaningful parts of my job.

My brand is all about individuality, softness, and natural flow. I want each tattoo to look like it grew naturally on the skin — not like a sticker or a template. I work internationally, mostly between Canada and Europe, and my clients often travel long distances for fully custom freehand pieces.

Right now I’m also expanding my educational direction: launching online workshops, teaching freehand techniques, composition, and my tattoo process from start to finish. I’m working on building a structured platform for artists who want to develop their own creative voice, not just copy designs.

I’m also preparing for several upcoming events, guest spots, and tattoo conventions, as well as potential brand partnerships with companies whose products I use every day in my work.

My goal is to continue growing my brand globally, share more of my techniques, and support both clients and artists through meaningful art.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were consistency, curiosity, and resilience.

Consistency taught me that creativity grows through daily practice, not sudden inspiration. Drawing every week, improving my freehand technique, and constantly refining my style helped me build a strong artistic identity. For beginners, my advice is simple: practice regularly, even if it’s just small exercises. Skills grow through repetition.

Curiosity kept my work alive. Traveling, meeting clients, studying nature, and experimenting with new techniques helped me stay inspired and open-minded. If you’re just starting, stay curious about everything — look at shapes, textures, movement, people, emotions. Creativity comes from observing the world.

Resilience was essential, especially in the tattoo industry. There were moments of doubt, mistakes, and challenges, but learning to keep going, adjust, and grow made me a stronger artist. My advice: don’t be afraid of slow progress or failures. They are part of the process and often the most valuable lessons.

Developing these three qualities helped me become confident in my craft and build a career I truly love.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes, I’m always open to meaningful collaborations — especially with brands, artists, studios, and companies whose values align with mine. I’m currently collaborating with Eztattoo and I’m also a partner with TattooDo App , and I truly enjoy working with brands that support quality, innovation, and the tattoo community.

As a freehand botanical tattoo artist, I’m passionate about working with high-quality tattoo supply companies, professional studios, and creative projects that focus on education, artistry, and community impact.

I’m also expanding my educational platform, so I’m interested in partnerships with companies or organizations that want to support online workshops, creative tutorials, or events focused on tattoo techniques and artistic growth.

If you’re reading this and would like to collaborate, the best way to reach me is through my Instagram or email. I’m always happy to connect, explore ideas, and build something inspiring together.
