We were lucky to catch up with Yusselly Garcia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yusselly, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
It is important to always be positive, to have a positive mind set. I like to surround myself with positive energy and look at the positive side of every negative thing. My family is my motivation and always keep me positive, they’re the ones that keep me going.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My business and career consists of enhancing your natural beauty. I offer hair and makeup services for any type of event, whether it’s a casual night out, photoshoot, quinceañera, prom, or wedding. I also offer haircuts and color, but my specialty is special events. What I love the most about my career is building a relationship with my clients. I’ve had the honor to have built relationships with my clients and be a part of their special events from their quinceañera to graduation photos, and more.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
You must be open to receive critical comments and advice from others. Don’t be afraid to take risks and challenge yourself. Most importantly be humble and be positive at all times.
How would you describe your ideal client?
I love when a client sits in my chair and says, “do whatever you want, I trust you!” As an artist, that is really the best feeling. To have someone trust you so much, and let you get creative for their special event or photoshoot. Don’t get me wrong I also love when they bring me inspiration pictures or want a specific look because I know exactly what they want. Of course it’s no comparison whenever they give you freedom of creativity and let you do whatever you want, especially when it comes to a photoshoot.
