We recently connected with YVETTE MARIE and have shared our conversation below.
YVETTE, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I think it comes down to authenticity. The more you are yourself the better you will set yourself apart. I think this world is filled with copies and duplicates, but authenticity is where the truth lies. Don’t be afraid to be YOU.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an Artist and Photographer… I am a Visual Artist and everything I see somehow goes this this Artistic Kaleidoscope. I have done clothing design, interior design, furniture and more. I love creating its who I am. I have recently begun to do Art Direction on a few videos as content and it just came natural.
I am on a new trip idea and I want to make products with my Art. I recently added T-shirts on my Art website www.artistyvettemarie.com and I have hand painted Airforce one’s with my Art its defenitly a work in progress but I love it.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My area’s of skill and knowledge is that I do pay attention to what people like or gravitate towards on social media or even within the Art community. But, I always keep myself in that process. Its hard to not lose faith or give up – believe me I have
seen people follow me and copy work or art and it can be hard to continue after that but stay focused and true to yourself.
These things fade out eventually the ones that take and don’t authentically create. I see them and just fly past and stay in my own zone. There’s only one YOU and if you let the outside world try to create you or cause conflict in you as an Artist, you’ve have lost. Just keep your head up and stay true. Also take breaks if you need to. Get out go discover something you never thought to do and just do it. Is the mix of adding new things into your life, suprising yourself to keep the energy going.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Well, I recently went thru a great number of losses. I lost my Mother, my apartment and everything I own and now my father is falling ill. Its almost more than one human can handle and it has been beyond a trying time. Losing everything is an immense push to who you truly are and those you chose to surround you. How do I resolve this? I have seperated myself from everything and everyone and just understood there is a lot we are not in control of so at times, we have to surrender to it all. I ask for strength and time to rebuild. Everyone expects you to be that same badass person you were during this time but its ok to not be. You will always return back to yourself in time. Sometimes even better and stronger so this process is truly growth.
