Meet Yvonne Garcia-Spence

We were lucky to catch up with Yvonne Garcia-Spence recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Yvonne , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

I’ve found over the years that helping people is just the healthiest way to live. I get it from my mother she was always first to jump to help those she could.. I am a strong believer in paying it forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a promoter! I throw live music shows, host benefit shows, and book bands for tons of shows! I’ve been a promoter for going on 4 years and have booked Dover 100 bands in that time. I do annual autism events raising money for choc children’s hospital and other autism foundations, I have my fifth annual punks for autism coming April 11th 2026 at the world famous doll hut in Anaheim. I do toy drives my first 2 were for the Ronald McDonald house charity , this year I’m gathering toys for a foundation called Kidz come first ! My team twisted soul entertainment also is having our 12th annual toy drive for the orangewood foundation in Orange county !!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Networking! My mother always promoted bands she was in by having promo packs with photos , bios, and demos, and talking about her music wherever we went . So I apply that in what I do as well anywhere I am if I see an opportunity I promote events I may have coming up , my band Rat Feces and any shows they have coming up. I highly suggest if you’re going to be a promoter to know how to have patience but to also be assertive not to allow bands to take advantage of your kindness . Give respect to earn respect …. And treat people like human beings don’t treat any band like theyre less important than some top 40s chart band!

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My mentor, Mr Mike Brennan!!! He has taught me pretty much everything I know in the business . If I ever have any questions or need a consult on a strategy of execution for a show or event I can turn to him get guided in the right direction!
