Meet Zach West

We recently connected with Zach West and have shared our conversation below.

Zach, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

I find optimism in my ability to remain hopeful and confident especially during times of stress. I have always had a strong belief that the future is malleable and the likelihood of a successful outcome lies in my ability to remain flexible and optimistic.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a Musician, Educator, and Tonal Nutritionist. My work motivates me to show up everyday with enthusiasm, and passion. I get to help Musical Humans of all ages, from preschool to adulthood, find grace and wellbeing through the awesome power of sound. I use a framework that I created called The Musical Circuits Model. This model is designed to help people increase their intelligence, cultivate their creativity, and heal using Musical frequencies. I have an online course available on my website at zachwesti2c2.com.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The most important and impactful quality I have gained along my journey hast to be Integrity. My dad taught me to commit to living authentically, with grace and courtesy. He also showed me patience and helped me learn the power of meditation. At first I resisted, but eventually I committed to a meditation practice using sound and breathing exercises. I would advise people early in their journey to practice intentional breathing, and commit to finding their own authentic voice! The best way to do this is to learn to sing with passion, joy, and confidence!

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

As far a Music goes, the most important book I’ve read is The Music Lesson by Victor Wooten. Mr. Wooten describes his distaste for practicing. Initially, I had a hard time with his philosophy on practice because I really enjoyed practicing. Eventually I came to understand his point. He liked to PLAY music. He equates playing music to the way children learn. Children learn by playing! They don’t practice walking, or talking. They walk and talk in order to play!

I still like “practicing” music, but I really love PLAYING music! Mostly because of the connection I feel with other Musical Humans.
