Meet Zachariah Crooks

We recently connected with Zachariah Crooks and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Zachariah with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I am a former athlete that played from a young age through college. I learned throughout the years that working hard creates results that I desired. I can recall that I made a conscious thought in High School to start really focusing on working with a focus to achieve what I wanted in my life. It lead me to get into college and also play a sport while there. It has also lead me throughout my whole life since.
I have to also appreciate that my Father was a good example of having a good work ethic as well. He modeled that working with a focus and determination would help you get to your goals. He is still this way as an older man. I’m thankful for his modeling.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a mental health counselor and hypnotherapist, focused on helping individuals heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues through holistic and spiritual counseling. I own my private practice, where I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Gestalt Therapy, Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy, Holotropic Breathwork, Energy Psychology, and Reiki. Each session is tailored to create a supportive environment where clients can safely explore their inner world, uncover their authentic selves, and find healing through self-discovery.

What sets my work apart is my holistic approach. I view each individual as a whole, addressing not only their emotional and psychological needs but also their spiritual and energetic well-being. My practice is rooted in the belief that everyone has the power to heal and transform their lives, and I am deeply honored to facilitate that journey.

One of the most exciting aspects of my work is witnessing the transformative growth in my clients as they release long-held emotional pain and step into a life of greater peace and fulfillment. I also offer Couple’s Hypnotherapy, helping partners deepen their connection, enhance communication, and heal relationship wounds together.

Currently, I am expanding my practice by enhancing my online presence and refining my services to reach a broader audience. I’m launching new service like Couple’s Hypnotherapy and Group sessions. Additionally, I’m also in the process of finding a new office space that feels warm and welcoming, aligning with my goal to create a comforting environment for my clients. My long-term vision includes opening a Healing Center that offers a variety of holistic services, fostering a community dedicated to growth, healing, and love.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities and skills stand out as most impactful in my journey:

1. Empathy and Emotional Attunement
The ability to deeply understand and connect with others’ emotions has been crucial in my practice. Empathy allows me to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen and heard. Developing this quality requires a willingness to be present, listen actively, and engage in your own emotional healing journey. My Advise is to cultivate empathy, practice active listening without judgment. Engage in personal reflection or therapy to understand your own emotional landscape, as it will enhance your ability to connect with others.

2. Holistic and Spiritual Perspective
Viewing each person as a whole—mind, body, and spirit—has shaped my approach to counseling. This perspective allows me to address deeper layers of healing that traditional methods may overlook. Understanding the interconnectedness of these aspects enriches the therapeutic process. My advice is to immerse yourself in diverse holistic practices such as mindfulness, meditation, or energy work. Explore spiritual philosophies and modalities to expand your understanding of human experience beyond the physical and psychological.

3. Adaptability and Continuous Learning
The field of mental health is always evolving, and staying adaptable has been essential. Whether it’s integrating new therapeutic techniques or adjusting to each client’s unique needs, adaptability ensures that I provide the most effective care. My advice is to commit to lifelong learning. Attend workshops, pursue certifications, and stay current with advancements in your field. Be open to feedback and embrace change as an opportunity for growth.

For those starting out, focus on building self-awareness and seek mentorship or guidance from experienced professionals. Growth in these areas will not only enrich your personal development but also enhance the impact you have on those you serve.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

First and foremost is my divine connection to God and Jesus. When times of struggle and burden arise for me; I spend time praying and meditating. Seeking divine Love and a warm hug that assure me that things will work out. Also, finding the answers to my questions. As I’ve walked down my path, I have found that the people, places, and things that are needed to achieve my goals find me. My own personal experience with the Divine has encouraged me to approach my work with others to incorporate the whole person.

There are also countless mentors and teachers I have experiences over the years that always spoke vision into my life. Telling and teaching me that I’m important and I have something great to do with my life. Even if it would be a little thing, the world needed me to do that thing.

Clients have also been an inspiration to me over the years. They have taught me what it means to suffer, how to expand and grow, and that there is much to say about holding hope. Additionally, I have had lots of clients throughout the years, encourage me to grow and reach out to others with my skills to help others heal and grow.

Lastly, I can say that my family, friends, and peers have played a role of speaking vision into my life. It is very common for me to reach out to someone in my support network to discuss something and gain a different perspective. It seems to lead me in the direction that I need to go; even if I don’t want to go that way.
