Meet Zachariah Rippey

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zachariah Rippey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Zachariah, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I opened the Word of God in 2020 and experienced the true presence of God. During that season of salvation and repentance, a new calling was put on my life.

For years, I pursued stand-up comedy as the end-all be-all of my identity and purpose. God opened my eyes and shifted the desires in my heart to no longer pursue my own fame and fortune, but to give Jesus glory with my gifts.

He called me to be a voice for Jesus, and since then, I’ve been blending humor, vulnerability, and truth in my speaking engagements, podcast episodes, comedy shows, and social media content.

My purpose is to partner with God and be known for boldly expressing Christ through creativity and authentic stories that make people laugh, think, and grow.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the host of the faith-based “I Like Birds Podcast,” which has reached over 30 million people on all platforms in 2024 alone.

I have ministered the gospel in prisons, High School Locker Rooms, and Uganda, Africa, while also appearing on multiple media platforms, podcasts, and comedy venues.

My main mission when speaking is to use humor and vulnerability to connect with people, truth to set them free, and my story to inspire.

I get super pumped up with someone shares with me that they are growing in their faith and believing God to show up in their lives. The testimonies that are shared with me and personally seeing people leave the room different than they came is a fulfilling feeling that I cherish after every event and episode.

Last month, we relaunched my best-selling book “21 Days in Africa” and are believing God for more people to discover it, read it, and be impacted by it.

In August, I am launching a podcast coaching service to help other shows launch, grow, and impact people.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Communicating with all walks of life – this has opened doors, helped me build a beautifully diverse network, and hear some of the best stories that give God glory.

Creative spirit – I’ve learned so much about writing, creating video content, blogs, websites, and the things I can do behind a computer have truly surprised me. I’ve spent 5 years building my own podcast and another 5 years building my writing business. I’ve learned a ton about marketing, promoting, and executing on ideas.

Bible Knowledge – for the first 2 years of my walk with Christ, I was such a bible-nerd. I read and journaled more than I ever have before and spent so much time in the Word. This positioned me to be able to teach and live out the scriptures as much as possible. I always say, the New Testament is etched on my heart and it helps me navigate the curveballs of life,

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am in a season of speaking. I believe I have so much value to bring to people. I can win over almost any room I’m asked to speak in with the gifts God gave me, and I absolutely love to make people laugh, share vulnerable stories, and deliver truth to help people grow in their faith.

So if anyone reading this has an event coming up, a church or conference they’d like to see me speak at, or a comedy show they have coming up, please connect with me at ilikebirdsministry.com/bookzach
