Zack, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Fake it till you make it, pure and simple. I think a lot of people say things like this and it sounds like such a cliché, but in my experience iv found that if you can project that level of self confidence it becomes second nature.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I founded and run a specialty foods company, Oak City Hot Sauce, in 2017. We’re a craft food producer that focuses on hot sauces, spices, and also a new hot honey line we launched last year. Both my business partner and I come from a culinary background so we really wanted to create products that were unique, natural and delicious.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The first and most important quality in my opinion for people who want to get into business for themselves, weather that be by selling a product, or service, or art, is the ability to follow through on your ideas. You can have all the good ideas and cool projects in the world lines up and if you dont act to make them a reality nothing happens with them.
Second is teachability. You do not know everything, your gonna fail, your gonna be wrong, your gonna make stupid decisions, its all part of the process, so knowing how to listen and learn from others is paramount.
The third is you need to know how to relax, being a business owner or creative or artist is stressful as hell, and having those skills set out to help you unwind really helps keep away burnout
