We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zahrah Sita a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Zahrah, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I have had a very strong drive to overcome all the challenges in my life. I have a lot of willpower and determination to accomplish my goals and to find the solutions necessary to succeed. I was in training for dance most of my childhood. Later I became involved with yoga. I do feel that these practices helped me develop a lot of personal discipline and the ability to stay committed to my goals.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I work in the field of holistic health. In my past I have worked clinically offering Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nutrition, Herbalism, Neurofeedback and more. I helped develop a wellness center in Costa Rica and I also helped run a retreat center there as well. I now am working full time in my private Health Coaching and Consulting practice. I assist people who are seeking to improve their health and overcome various health issues. I help create personalized healing plans and offer ongoing support and guidance in private meetings via Zoom. I assist a large volume of cancer patients, yet I meet with people of all ages for a wide variety of health issues. In addition to my Coaching and Consulting practice, I offer a Full Body Cleanse and Detox program that’s available on my website. I often assist with healing retreats and do post announcements about events I am involved with to my social media accounts.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Compassion, humility and a strong drive to help others have been the foundation for my practice. Being able to care for others, care about how they are doing, and to feel inspired to help others, has helped me stay dedicated and motivated in my work. I believe that these qualities are important for all business leaders. Taking time to invest in one’s personal growth and their mental and emotional health is valuable for developing a good foundation for a successful business.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I like to take time to move my body, as well as practice deep slow breathing. Movement such as dance, walking, biking, hiking, etc. helps me to diffuse tension. Deep slow breathing helps me to reset my nervous system. I may also journal, meditate, take a bath with Epsom salts and/or talk things out with a friend. I highly recommend that when a person feels stress or overwhelm that they take time to slow down, do some deep breathing, take a walk, get into nature, pray, meditate and/or other healthy practices that can assist in lowering tension and stress. The better we are at managing stress, the more focus, vitality and motivation we will have to give to our passion and purpose.
