We recently connected with Zaida Alfaro and have shared our conversation below.
Zaida, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Everyday, I wake up and set realistic goals. The goals may seem minimal at first, but I realize that these goals set my day. I also practice daily, positive self-talk. I make time for myself, such as reading, playing music, even a spa day. I distance myself from social media, with the exception of my business. Social media, interlaced with society, set these expectations that deter one from developing confidence and self-esteem.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Zaida. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I am a singer; songwriter; producer; Grammy considered artist; cozy mystery author; and now, a certified Life Coach. My journey has been an interesting one. For many years, I wanted to pursue a career in which I can personally help others, not just through my music, but one on one. So, in 2022, I decided to take a leap forward and I went back to school, and I became a certified Life Coach for women.
I often get asked, what is a Life Coach. As a Life Coach, I help women create the changes they want in all aspects of their lives. It is a process that helps one get unstuck and move plans forward to a successful completion. I specialize in working with women discover their true-self, inner-worth and self-value.
I believe that it only takes one person to change one’s life, you. But one also needs guidance, and that is what I am here to do. With coaching, you do not have to navigate life’s challenges on your own. We will work hand-in-hand to realize your full and true potential. I am here to help you to re-enforce your goals and your purpose.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Listening. While it sounds simple, listening is actually a difficult skill to master. In coaching, listening involves empathy and creating space to let the other person share their perspective.
Asking Questions. The most important part of coaching is asking questions. When asking questions with a coaching mindset, the goal is to help the person uncover that insight themselves.
Setting goals. With a coaching mindset, the goal is not to give the other person actions or tasks to perform but, instead, to partner with them to define those actions based on their own abilities and knowledge.
Life coaches need to be approachable, personable, friendly and helpful.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is a female, age range: 30 and over. A Client whose traits include being sensitive; kind; supportive; passionate; modest; soul seeker; and open-minded. A woman who believes in herself. A woman who isn’t afraid to share her opinions and speak her truth. No matter what, she is true to herself and her beliefs.
The above is to solely paint a clear picture of my ideal client, but I am not, in anyway, limiting who I coach in the future.
