Meet Zakirah Archable

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zakirah Archable. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Zakirah, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

Where do I begin… Life throws you so many obstacles and you have to roll with the punches and make adjustments at any moment. My resilience kicked in when I left my home town 3 years ago. I moved to Atlanta where I had no family and everything was unfamiliar. I gave up my career and comfortability to start my entrepreneurial path. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. To be in a new place have to market your business, find customers, with limited money, and no consistent income coming in. But I adjusted I made friends with other women entrepreneurs, I attended networking events, and I essentially talked to any and everyone about my product. My time in Atlanta was short lived I was in a toxic relationship and could not continue to thrive in that environment. I packed my car with everything I owned and moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL. This was my rock bottom. I had a negative bank account balance, a broken heart, and was physically enduring a lot of pain. But I still pushed through. I begin learning Florida, making friends, building business connections to assists me with getting back on my feet. A couple months later I found out I had stage 4 breast cancer which accounted for the pain I was in. I felt numb, I couldn’t catch a break. But I remember listening to a speech by Lisa Nichols about resiliency, intuition, and your get up muscle. Those words til this day still ring in my head. No matter what life has thrown at me I remained positive and moved forward. Because that’s the only thing you can do, My life doesn’t stop when challenges get it in the way. It’s just a testimony in my journey of my time here. I want to make my life count. GOD placed these tasks on me because I am strong enough to carry them. My get up muscle is where I got my resilience from.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the owner and operator of Zak’s Mirror. It is an interactive photo mirror that adds magic to any event. It has many features such as customized frames, animation, and compliments. Additionally, we create long lasting memories for our guests. I also am one of the founders of the lifestyle brand Holistic Hotties. I started this brand with my best friends in Florida. Our goal is to create inclusion for individuals who live a holistic lifestyle. Furthermore, Holistic Hotties educates the community on best practices to live a long and fulfilling life. We throw fun events in the holistic space for the conscious collective. I love throwing events and bringing people together. When I found out I had stage 4 breast cancer, I had to change my lifestyle. There were a lot of foods or drinks I couldn’t indulge in anymore. I felt out of place. I wanted to maintain my new lifestyle and still hang out with my friends. There Holistic Hotties was born. We created events we wanted to see. Our latest event we had a High Vibrations dinner for Women’s History month. We had a 4 course luxury plant based experience, with sound bowl healing, and conscious conversations surrounding mental health, healthy eating, and current events. We are in the process of creating more events.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I would have to say being coachable, networking, and resiliency. The best advice I can give when you’re early on in your journey to improve on these skills is to get a mentor in your respected field, surround yourself with people that you can learn from, and don’t let fear hold you captive. As an entrepreneur you have to take risks. you have to get uncomfortable, and you have to be will to adapt at any moment when things change. Lastly, you have to be willing to listen, become a student, and soak up the appropriate information that will help you and your business grow.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

There are a few challenges I am facing. One is having breast cancer having to make the time for treatment, hospital visits, and maintaining a holistic lifestyle. I am still unlearning old habits to preserve my life. Another challenge is balancing my day job with my businesses. During the week I am a Regional Life and Resiliency skills coordinator for all the Boys and Girls Clubs in the Fort Lauderdale Region. During the day I am creating programs and activities for the youth. The only time I have to work on my business is after work or on the weekends. I am also in grad school so that adds another layer to my time management. Time management is a slight challenge for me this position is new, I am learning to adjust to my new schedule.
