Meet Zander Reddis

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zander Reddis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Zander with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from a variety of places – my parents were both very hard workers in different venues, they both put 100% of their effort and persistence into what they were working on at the time, and definitely instilled that in me. Also, growing up in the competitive dance world, as well as music and theater, required lots of repetition and practice, and definitely reinforced the benefits of working hard.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My main pursuits are playing bass and guitar tech work.  I’m very excited to be recording new music with Sordes Dominum, as well as creating music with other developing projects, all of which are aiming to have releases and/or shows later in the year.

I’m thrilled about the new music that is coming to fruition, and definitely look forward to getting it out into the world!

In regards to tech work, I have been very lucky to continue to grow and learn more varied repair skills at Schecter Guitars, and have been tackling as many private projects as time allows.

Both of these areas are exciting & special to me in different & intertwining ways- I’m very proud & grateful to be able to create music I’m truly excited about with the people I do; and I love learning how to better my tech skills in as many ways as I can.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Overall, the three most impactful things for my life are preparation, being open minded, and being able to take in constructive criticism in balance with intuition.

There will always be curveballs or bad days, but preparing fully allows for the most professionalism & confidence beforehand possible.

Being open minded allows for opportunities to come into your life that may not be part of an imagined life plan. Some of the greatest experiences of my life have come from pursuing opportunities I could never have thought of myself.

Lastly, while it is a struggle sometimes, the ability to hear constructive criticism while balancing it with your own intuition is extremely valuable. Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees, especially with passions & emotional situations, and trusted people who truly care about you can help further your potential & worldview. That being said, most people can tell when their gut greatly sways them one way or another, and balancing those two forces I think is the best way to move through life.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I think a balance of both is important. Passions and strengths are always the most rewarding and encouraging things to focus on, but working on adjacent areas of weakness can only help overall strength. I think a big example of this for most creatives is social media & the logistics/business side of their industries.
I’m by no means an expert and am always learning- I have immense respect for people who have mastered this. These things, when done well, allow the creative person to put their work in front of different & more people in optimal ways, allowing them to put the bulk of their time and effort into strengthening their art further.
