Meet Zenobia Cardwell

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zenobia Cardwell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zenobia below.

Hi Zenobia, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
The 125 Black Women Initiative or 125BW was founded in 2022 while I was working in Richmond City Public Schools in the mental health field. I noticed how a simple “Good Morning” or “Have A Good Day!” with a smile could shift the day of a middle schooler who may not have made contact with anyone else that morning. I felt that Black and Brown Women from across Richmond, Virginia should gather to shift mornings━ and even their lives TOGETHER while creating a village of care, comfort, and celebration for the young ladies of T.C. Boushall, all while representing the community in Southside Richmond, Virginia.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
The 125 Black Women Initiative is a non-profit program organized by the creative brand H4 Creative Firm. This initiative is scheduled to take place from March 25 to March 29, 2024, at T.C. Boushall Middle School in Richmond, Virginia. The purpose of this initiative is to celebrate and empower the young ladies of T.C, Boushall by providing various activities and events throughout the week.

Throughout the entire week, there will be exciting giveaways for participants, creating an engaging and uplifting atmosphere. These giveaways aim to not only express appreciation for the attendees but also to contribute to a sense of community and support. The giveaways will be a tangible way of acknowledging and celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of black women.

To express gratitude for the volunteers contributing their time and efforts to the initiative, there will be a special and substantial celebration at the end of the week. This celebratory event will include a larger-than-life gathering, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of those who selflessly contributed to making the initiative a success. Moreover, there will be exclusive giveaways as a token of appreciation for the volunteers’ commitment.

For those interested in becoming a part of this meaningful initiative as volunteers, a sign-up link will be made available on the official website, h4cfllc.com, starting March 4th. This link will allow individuals to express their interest, register for a specific day, and become an integral part of the initiative.

By combining the creative prowess of H4 Creative Firm with the charitable spirit of the 125 Black Women Initiative this event aims to create a positive impact on the lives of Black Women in Richmond, fostering a sense of unity and empowerment within the community.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Everything for me goes back to the founding principles of H4 Creative Firm: Heart, Hunger, Hu$tle, and Humility. with H4CF being the creative brand that 125BW is housed under, these principles apply to the foundations of what 125BW is

– *Connection and Compassion:* The heart represents a deep connection to the cause, showing empathy, understanding, and compassion towards the experiences and challenges faced by Black women in the community. The initiative is driven by a sincere desire to celebrate and empower young women of Boushall, fostering a sense of unity and support.

The initiative is fueled by a hunger for equality, empowerment, and recognition that creates a community of care, comfort and celebration. Organizers, volunteers, and participants are motivated by a shared goal to make a difference in the lives of young women in Richmond.

Hu$tle:
– *Diligence and Hard Work:* Hu$tle represents the commitment to hard work and diligence in planning and executing the initiative. 125BW curates a week-long event filled with meaningful activities, giveaways, and celebrations and there is a GRAND amount of Hu$tle behind it. This quality ensures that the initiative is well-organized, impactful, and leaves a legacy.

Humility:
– *Respect and Openness:* Humility is essential in approaching the initiative with respect for the diverse experiences and perspectives within the Black community, specifically Black Women. It involves acknowledging the strengths and contributions of individuals while remaining open to learning and collaboration. The initiative is grounded in humility, recognizing the value of every participant and volunteer.

As these qualities intertwine, they contribute to the overall success of 125 Black Women by fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
