Meet Zhanae Janae

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zhanae Janae a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Zhanae with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I’ve always had a great work ethic since I was a kid. I’ve always witnessed how hard my family worked at whatever they did in their lives and they always pushed me to do my best. One saying that I can remember as a child that really resonated with me was “If you’re going to do something, do your best or don’t bother doing it at all.” My mom really drilled that in my head.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

First things first, I’m honored to be extended this opportunity to let people know a little bit about me and what I do. I’m Zhanae and I’m from Atlanta. I’ve been an entrepreneur for more than half of my life lol, and recently, I launched a podcast called “The Power Is Mine” that is intended to let everyone understand that the answers, the love, and the power they seek can all be found within them. On my personal journey to growth, I have hit many stumbling blocks, and found this to be true. I’ve learned to navigate this world honestly and openly, and I hope to inspire whomever I can to be more open with themselves and others in the process. Season two of my podcast is on the way, and I hope that anyone that is interested will tune in for introspective conversations and sit downs with some guests that I think offer great insights.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Determination, flexibility, and patience. In so many different areas of my life I haven’t taken no for an answer or let people being negative affect what I knew that God had for me, and I’ve watched a lot of opportunities pass people by because they want to wait for it opposed to getting up and working for it. “Faith that works is dead.” Always remember that. Patience is another thing that I’ve learned though because I can work so hard for something and if it just isn’t the time for me to receive it or I’m not in the correct headspace to be able to sustain that blessing, then I’ve learned you just have to be okay with the fact that it’s not your time yet. Once I realized that, the flexibility came in and I learned that there’s more than one way to skin a cat so as long as you keep putting in the work and the prayers, then the goal will get accomplished. It’s easy to get discouraged, but just keep at it.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

I cry looool. I am such a crybaby. Honestly, though I feel like sometimes you have to allow yourself to be sad about your situation then get up and change it. If you have a good group of people around you, you talk it out. I like to journal a lot and also look up affirmations or just take a deep deep breath and see where I am in my journey because a lot of the time I’ve noticed I’m crying about what I haven’t done yet and I’ve actually come so far, and not realized it.
