Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zipporah Sowell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Zipporah , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
It took countless times of trial and error for me to exude the confidence I do today. Although people assume I woke up with this confidence, I wasn’t always confident. For most of my childhood, I had low self-esteem and didn’t believe in myself enough. As a result, I always compared myself to others and believed I was either not enough or too much. While I had parents who always encouraged me and told me I was beautiful, I just didn’t feel enough despite their support. It is true that I struggled with low self-confidence for a majority of my childhood, but I was really good at pretending, so most people couldn’t tell. Fast forwarding to my time in college, there was a random day I came back to my dorm and I remember having this long mirror that hung over my door. I looked in that mirror, and I immediately burst into tears. I couldn’t figure out why I was uncomfortable with looking at myself in the mirror. “What is it about myself that is making me feel this way?” I asked. After some deep thought, I realized I had a big issue with low self-esteem for two main reasons:
1) I was always trying to be who others wanted me to be, and not who I truly wanted to be
2) I didn’t understand my worth and the power of truly valuing myself
When I had that epiphany, I burst into tears again and decided I didn’t want to be this woman of low self-esteem ever again. I made the conscious decision that no matter how scary the healing process may be for me to become the woman I wanted to be, I was going to move forward and take all the steps necessary to radically love myself. Having this aha moment helped me gain a new perspective on life. From that day, I’ve learned how to embrace what makes me unique and that helped stop the comparison game I always played in my head. I compiled sets of affirmations that I said to myself in the mirror multiple times a day to help reprogram my subconscious mind to shift my beliefs. I’ve learned it doesn’t matter how others perceive you, the only thing that matters is you walking in your truth. I’ve never been the same since and today I can say I am the woman I always wanted to be. The woman who has unwavering confidence in herself and her abilities. The woman who embraces her multifacetedness and expresses radical self-love. That’s the woman I am today and I’m so proud of her.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most impactful qualities of my journey are determination, risk-taking, and consistency. When you decide what you want, it is up to you to align with your vision. Having unwavering determination despite any discouragement or obstacle you may face. Your determination shows not only how much you believe in your vision, but most importantly how much you believe in yourself. Risk-taking tends to be one of the scariest things to do because you can never be sure if that risk is going to reap the reward you desire. However, I feel that listening to your inner voice and taking risks where necessary is better than living a life where you always take the “safe” route. Anything worth doing is worth taking a risk for. I would say consistency has been the major key to my success so far. Even during times where I took breaks or pivoted on my journey, the one thing that remained the same was my consistency in my craft. There are going to be days where you take 2 steps forward and 5 steps back, but the important thing is that you continue to move forward in the path of your vision. For people who are trying to develop these qualities now, I would say it all starts with the little things. Start implementing these concepts in your morning routine, work, and how you show up for yourself on a daily basis. It starts with you implementing these qualities now, not waiting until you make a certain amount of money, until you lose a little bit more weight, or until you start that business….it starts now! You’ll never be fully ready enough to do anything and that’s one of the beauties of life.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth has been learning how to trust and release control. I’m always one to have a plan, and to have every detail planned to the T. However, as of lately, the Universe has taken me through a transformation where I’m learning that it’s okay to release and not know what’s going to happen next. At times, we think if we have control of every little thing, nothing can go “wrong” when really we need a re-route and that’s why things aren’t going according to plan. We get so caught up in always knowing the next thing that’s going to happen, but that’s not how this human experience is. It’s easy to tell people to trust when everything is going good, but the true test of your faith is when you have to trust even when you don’t know the next step. Co-creating with the flow of the Universe instead of resisting it has helped me become a more versatile individual. Furthermore, I now understand that if something doesn’t go to plan, that simply means that Spirit has better in store for me. There are infinite ways for you to materialize your vision. You never know what the Universe has up it’s sleeve. Let the magick of the Universe unfold!✨️
