Meet Zoe Johnson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zoe Johnson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Zoe with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I get my work ethic from watching my mom and dad. They have always taught me to work really hard from a very young age and so I focus and put my best foot forward. Whether it is for dance, school, singing, song-writing, and performing. I am going to give my very best no matter what I set out to do.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a 15-year-old independent music and performing artist with a deep love for both dance and songwriting. I’ve been dancing since the age of 2, and over the years, I’ve developed a special passion for hip-hop dancing. By the time I was 9, I found myself drawn to songwriting, spending hours in my room crafting lyrics. When I turned 14, a pivotal moment came when my parents and I connected with an incredible music producer. He provided me with a beat, giving me my first real opportunity to write and record in a professional studio. Since then, I’ve written and recorded four original songs and had the chance to collaborate with some amazing people, bringing my creativity to life through music videos.

A big part of my journey has been the support of my family. My dad has played a key role in helping me develop the creative concepts for my videos, while my mom, a screenwriter, has been writing my video scripts. Together, we make a solid team, and I’m truly grateful for their support.

I’m also excited to share that this year, I’ve had the opportunity to explore acting. I’ll be appearing in an upcoming movie titled Vegas Traffic, set to release at the end of the year. Plus, I’m preparing for a role in another movie, directed by Carl Jackson, and can’t wait to get started on set.

Though I love R&B, I’m open to exploring all genres of music. My latest release, Deep In, is an EDM single, and I’m thrilled to drop the music video later this year. Keep an eye out for more new music from me in the coming year!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Pursuing a career as a music artist requires more than just a passion for singing, writing, and creativity. You also need patience, consistency, and persistence because the journey can be challenging. Like any path to success, it demands hard work and resilience. I am learning that it is important to learn how to adapt when things don’t go as planned or when you receive feedback that’s hard to hear.

The best advice I can offer is to always focus on perfecting your craft. You never know when your next opportunity will come, so it’s essential to stay prepared. As my mom always says, “Stay ready, so you don’t have to get ready.”

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m always excited about the possibility of collaborating with other talented artists. Some of the legends on my dream list include Kaytranada, H.E.R., Missy Elliott, and Chris Brown. The list doesn’t stop there—Khalid, Coco Jones, and Kevin Ross are incredible artists I’d love to work with. And it would be a dream come true to collaborate with J. Cole, Rapsody, or Jack Harlow.

I’m also inspired by international sounds and would love to blend styles with artists like Bad Bunny, J Balvin, or WizKid. On a more emerging scale, I’m eager to work with rising stars like Tate McRae, PinkPantheress, Layah, or Jvck James.
