We recently connected with Zoot and have shared our conversation below.
Zoot, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
To me, creativity is just an extension of your self expression. For some, you have to know yourself and understand your thoughts and emotions, while for others, expressing can come without a pre-planned perception. You output what you input. Everyone sees different things in life and connects with them differently based on how they were raised, but we only have the present to live with now. You can get inspired by what you see in this exact moment. Matter of fact, all 6 senses are ways we input information; they can all lead to inspiration. A touch, a sound, a feeling, a view, a flavor, a scent – they can all lead to an idea.
The birds chirping inspires me and keeps me creative. The smell of spring, that feels the same, yet so different everywhere in the world keeps me creative. The view of nature or a beaurtiful city in the morning with sunrise inspires me and keeps me creative.
Approaching what’s there and finding more things to appreciate is what inspires me.
Im inspired to inspire.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
After establishing 1122 Records, LLC in 2020, my main focus has been to help artists become the best versions of themselves while owning their masters – changing the purpose of the industry one song at a time.
We put our energy into recording, mixing, mastering, video and photo production, marketing, promotion, distibution, publishing, educating and more.
The latest project under the label is “Turquoise Dreams.” by Zoot, a 7 track Pop rap EP.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Decision making – I believe that everyday we all wake up with a chance and a choice. Life is not fair to some people, but there’s always beauty and things to be grateful for. You just have to learn the perspective. A good perception helps you make good decisions both in business and personal life. You have to be efficient, authentic, and aware of every decision you make, you never know which could be your last.
Understanding – It’s important to understand yourself, or at least have a understanding of the perception you have of yourself. it’s important to try and understand other people, even if it’s difficult sometimes. ItItss important to try and understand how things are related and co-exist with the universe and what they do within its nature and harmony.
We will never know it all, but it’s important to try. The world can be a dark place, the least we can do is try to understand.
Knowledge is power after all.
Vigilance – You have to be alert! Life can be chill and sooth sailings, but it can change very quickly. Things can happen fast. A life changing accident can happen fast. Be grateful for what ou have and appreciate the people In your life. Be aware and vigilante of your surroundings and who you have around you. Who is trying to smile in your face as they screw you? Who is trying to genuinely help you? It’s important to know yourself so you can be vigilante and stay true to it.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The book “I Am Zlatan” by Ibrahimovic was the first book I willingly read all the way. It was life changing for me at the time. Helped me see a different side of me. I realized why confidence is importat but how it means nothing if you’re not down to earth and humble at the same time. The line between confidence and arrogance is very thin and I learned a lot from that book. It was what I needed in that period of my teenage years when I was 14-15 maybe. That book inspired me for decades and sparked a fire within me that is burning to this day.
