Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zoraya Villarreal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Zoraya , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
As an immigrant I have had to adapt and recover from difficult situations. The positive experiences and all the effort made in my country give me the strength and confidence to overcome these new challenges.
Having the active support of my husband to get ahead with our three children is my biggest driving force, we have learned together to handle adversity with a positive and constructive attitude. In addition, we try to plan goals that are realistic and do not make us feel overwhelmed. We definitely have to understand that every challenge is an opportunity to learn.
Meditating and exercising help us maintain the joy and well-being we need.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Kino Táchira, Noticiero Venevision, Portada’s, Azul Profundo are some of the most recorded programs in my country Venezuela. Also, I was part of a motivating image campaign with Empresas Polar to exalt the integral beauty of Venezuelan women, and I joined Unicef to hold important events for children in my country. In addition, a wonderful experience Puebla es Sabor, a program about delicious Mexican cuisine. Actually I edite synopses for Telemundo productions. Also I do the QC of metadata content. These skills include creating titles and select thumbnails, content audits and data management.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Studying is the first step, choosing the university degree according to your personality and vocation, the area that is your true enthusiasm. When I turned 20 I realized that we cannot set limits. If we dream that we can do something to be useful, nothing is impossible. I also keep in mind that personal and professional development is a continuous journey, not a final destination. Another of the fundamental pillars is speaking several languages, especially English, it can open doors for you in a world. Be informed and updated on the latest trends and advances in your area of action. And finally, we cannot be superficial with interpersonal relationships and the control of our emotions, two aspects that will help us to consolidate our way to feel successful.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
I am deeply grateful for my parents, brave immigrants who always encouraged me to be a professional, they placed a lot of emphasis on being responsible and not fearing effort, dedication is vital to achieve goals. Now, I have 3 adolescent children and my current goal is to be able to face professional challenges with the necessary balance to be able to guide them in this stage that is so important to them, since they have too many stimuli and we have to watch their environment.
