Hi Michelle , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is the quality I value most. I believe it’s form of intelligence in itself- knowing the right thing to do- and the most meaningful way to focus your energy is on living by it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Michelle Garbin is an Emmy-nominated makeup artist and clinical esthetician whose career spans some of television and film’s most iconic productions. Known in Hollywood as the “face whisperer” to an elite roster of actors and models, she has brought her artistry to hit shows like Sons of Anarchy, Dexter: Original Sin, America’s Next Top Model, and Major Crimes, as well as films including American Underdog, Three Kings, and Yours, Mine and Ours.
A UCSB graduate and dual U.S./Italian citizen, Michelle launched her own skincare line, Vivid MD Skincare. Her work is celebrated not only for its flawless finish but for the confidence it gives those in front of the lens.
Winner of the Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Guild Awards, she continues to redefine beauty in entertainment while championing compassion and artistry in equal measure.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Inspired by her machinist father, Michelle honed a mastery of working with her hands, a skill that now shapes her artistry.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I believe failure is just the foundation for a stronger comeback.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’m more introverted than people realize—the public version is just the highlight reel.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop worrying and focus my energy on work I love while surrounding myself with people I value and love being around.
