We recently had the chance to connect with Mimi Perryman and have shared our conversation below.
Mimi , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
The most joy I have outside of work is my son Sj. He is 7 and I am so proud to be his mother as I get to watch him grow along his journey. Being a business owner takes so much dedication, time, and sacrifice that I never imagined I could be successful and be present as a mother creating my own family. Not only am I able to teach him how to build a fulfilling career, but I am also preparing him to reach higher levels in his own life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Mimi Perryman. I am the owner of Events With LML, a event planning service that specializes in mobile bartending services for all events. I started LML in 2016 and have becoming one of the highest rated event staffing companies in the Southern California area. We have since expanded to other areas and states. The most special thing about my company is getting to be a part of our clients most special celebrations and making lasting memories while creating lasting experiences. The most interesting part I would say is the types of clients we get to work with. People we may have never met from all walks of life and build relationship with are priceless. Working with great people who are doing amazing things in their life and careers. We have clients from celebrities, to fortune 500 company executives, medical field professionals, entrepreneurs, families, and many more. The most unique thing about LML is the all in one event services we provide. We offer a one stop shop model. When planning a event we can do most services and rentals =using just one vendor, us! From staff, bartenders, Djs, equipment rentals, hydration stations, decor, balloon garlands and more.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
The person that taught me the most about work was my grandfather on my dad’s side. He lite the spark in me to become an entrepreneur. He was the only business owner in my family growing up. My grandfather was the first black dentist to have his own practice in the Bay Area, Ca. He not only helped me build confidence but pushed me to apply myself in school. He taught me about investing as well as investing in myself. Learning the ins and outs of running a business and keeping my integrity.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say to myself that my will to succeed is inspiring. I have a never give up even when times are hard build in drive that even surprises me at times.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I rely on my older brother’s ideas the most. When I go to him for advice or spin ideas to him, he is amazing at breaking down all sides to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision. My brother is very realistic and is great at making decisions and putting emotions aside which is beneficial in business.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely! To be honest that is most rewarding part of being a business owner. I want my brand to take all the recondition so that my hard work continues to pay off even after I am retired. I was never a person who need praise, the quality of life I can build for my family and the impact I can have on my staff and clients is all I need,
