Morgan Holloman of Downtown on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Morgan Holloman and have shared our conversation below.

Morgan, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I think integrity is the most important thing because its the foundation that gives meaning to intelligence and energy. Our integrity and character development are with us always no matter our job, location, or circumstances. How we think, speak and live all stems from having a high degree of integrity.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Morgan Holloman, and I’m a serial entrepreneur with a passion for building ideas into thriving businesses. Over the years, I’ve launched and grown multiple businesses across different industries, each driven by curiosity and creativity.

What makes my journey unique is the number of experiences I’ve had—learning from both successes and setbacks—and how those lessons have shaped my approach to entrepreneurship.

Right now, I’m focused on building community through the ownership at the Brandt House, a historic hotel originally opened in 1887 in my small town Alma, KS, population 800. At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to integrity, adaptability, and creating impact that lasts.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband Tyler Holloman has believed in me since day 1 and is always pushing me to become a better version of myself. He forces me to think outside the box and challenges me dream bigger than I thought possible.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me lessons that success alone never could. It showed me the importance of resilience—to keep going even when everything feels stacked against you. It reminded me to stay true to who I am, even when challenges tempt me to compromise or give up. Most importantly, it gave me the courage to try and try again, knowing that failure isn’t the end but part of the process of growth.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m deeply committed to the historic hotel we just opened. For me, its more than a project– its a way to preserve history and create community. Restoring and revitalizing a place like this takes vision, patience, and persistence, but I believe it’s worth every bit of effort.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I am most at peace when I am at home on the porch of our farm watching the world go by and remembering that no matter the amount of businesses I am involved in there is always time to slow down!
