Nathan Smith’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nathan Smith. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Nathan, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Traveling without a doubt. Engulfing myself in the culture and ambience of new place internationally is a joy that makes me lose track of time. Usually in another time zone, I love to get lost in my surroundings. Trying new foods, discovering new plants, seeing animals I’ve never seen along with breath taking views. I tend to reflect even more on how large this world is and how blessed I am to experience it.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a christian, husband ,son and father of 4 beautiful children. I was born and continue to reside in Georgia. I have been working in the radiology field for almost 20 years now and have built the largest support company, Imaging Diversified, for radiology professionals in the world with the help of my partner and colleagues. I’ve been able to open other business and be part of other projects to propel health care forward from behind the scenes with companies Nsmith Consultants, ID Staffs, MRI Done Right and Pravida Health. Ranging from consulting to helping radiology staffing shortages get filled to management services to preventive health and wellness with radiology equipment. I also volunteer for two radiology societies, the Georgia Society and the Atlanta Society of Radiologic Technologists, in Georgia that work to help ewducate and support radiology professionals in Georgia.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I had an eye opening experience on a mission trip to South America. At the time, I was an undergrad student and never traveled internationally. Our job was to offer radiology services such as xrays and mammograms. People walked miles to get an xray of their knees and backs. The people there did not have access to get timely radiographs and the healthcare system was subpar. Seeing that need in a new place and meeting people with uplifted spirits in spite of their circumstance shaped how I viewed the world forever.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to enjoy experiences more than material things. I would encourage my younger self to try all the sports, try all the instruments, try the different foods and stay true to myself. Never live to impress anyone and always trust my gut/intuition.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe fasting can cure almost every known disease. One of the toughest thing to do for a person that loves food is to abstain from it. My career in health care means I spend the majority of my time caring for people with some type of issue. One of the oldest forms of curing is fasting from food to allow our bodies to naturally heal but there is not enough studies out there showing correlation of illness cures to fasting days. It is one thing I hope to study more and find supporting evidence that is concrete for all types of diseases.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people tell the story that I was a God fearing man who deeply loved his family and friends. I was honest, fair and reliable. I was a visionary and a great leader. I hope people say that I dedicated my life to helping others where I could.
