Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Abby L Vandiver. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Abby L, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
For a long time, I had no idea I was smart. I picked things up on things easily,, but didn’t think anything of it. However, when I discovered I was smart, it made me sit back and think about who I am. What made up me. Good and bad. I decided to make changes in myself and to use the good things, my talents, to my advantage whenever I could. Learning about me made me confident in who I was. Who I am. And then I take every opportunity to better myself, to be the best I can be. I fix the things I don’t like about myself (although those changes can be slow and I’ve learned my limitations), but every day I strive for a better version of me. That is what makes me confident and have self-esteem. I know I always endeavor to give my best.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My focus surrounds the craft of writing. Whether I’m the one doing the writing or I am helping others. It is my passion. It always presents new learning opportunities and is a way for my to express myself to others. and to share what I know with others.
I’ve written over thirty books and Ii hope to write more. I teach writer classes and am pleased with the feedback I get of how I helped others to achieve their writing goal.
I am having a writers’ retreat at the end of April 2024 and am super excited about it. I believe it will expand my reach in helping others, which is what I want to do.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think three qualities that have aided me in my journey are that I’m analytical, open to growth, and enjoy sharing my experiences and knowledge with others.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Don’t stress, you’ll get there. And always seek help, don’t try to go on this writing journey by yourself. Writing is not a solitary endeavor. But you have to be prepared to listen.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking for other writers. It doesn’t matter if they are just starting or are advanced, I am all about the writing community. Helping each other and sharing what we know.
