Meet Abby Messner

We were lucky to catch up with Abby Messner recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Abby with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I learned the value of a strong work ethic from an early age. My parents taught me to take pride in my work and care about what I do. I’ve found that I’m most efficient when my schedule is full but manageable. Staying busy, within reason, helps me stay focused and get things done. I believe in doing every task with diligence, regardless of its size. This mindset has led me to approach everything I do with dedication and commitment. It’s not about impressing others; it’s about setting high standards for myself. In a world that often values shortcuts and quick fixes, I stand firm in my belief that taking pride in one’s work is important. This commitment to excellence remains my defining measure of success, and I take it personally if I believe my work falls short in my clients’ eyes.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
It’s been an exciting journey to watch my small venture grow into something truly special. In April, I achieved a significant milestone by moving my business out of the confines of my basement and into a charming studio/shop space right on Main Street in North Canton.

This move has not only expanded my workspace but also enhanced my visibility within the community. Being situated on Main Street has allowed me to connect with more customers and establish a strong presence in the heart of North Canton.

But there’s more to my Main Street space than just balloons. It’s also home to “Inspired Image Studio,” a small rentable photography studio that adds another layer of creativity to my location.

Having this dedicated space has enabled me to take my creativity to the next level. I now have more room to design and assemble intricate balloon arrangements, and it’s a pleasure to see the delight they bring to my clients’ special occasions. Whether it’s birthdays, weddings, or corporate events, I’m equipped to make every celebration even more memorable with my unique balloon artistry.

.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Responsibility in decision-making, a commitment to setting and sharing goals and building a network have been the cornerstones of my journey. For those starting out, I would emphasize the importance of making informed business decisions and educating yourself on small business best practices. Leveraging the power networking as well as sharing your goals and your big wishes with others will fuel your growth. You must talk about the things your want! And lastly, do the work to learn about your industry. Take the time to learn new techniques and to keep up on the latest trends!

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who envisions an efficient process for adding some “pop” to their celebration. They appreciate the convenience of a quick and hassle-free journey towards realizing their vision. What sets them apart is their understanding of the value I bring to the table – not just in terms of the final result, but also in the expertise, creativity, and dedication I invest in making their special occasion truly exceptional.
