We recently connected with Ace the Rapper and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ace the Rapper, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I got my work ethic from my mom. Growing up I saw her work 3 jobs at a time, just to provide for my siblings and I. Some nights she went to sleep hungry or didn’t go to sleep at all and still gave us her best. Her resilience is unmatched. We been through a lot and she put in the work to get us to a better place. She established a great foundation for all of us and I love her to death for it. Ma dukes unmatched.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m an Artist that mainly creates Rap music. My ultimate goal is to relate to my audience and to get them to feel as I did in that moment. I have a few things on the way that I can’t wait to share. Be on the lookout for my newest single “See It Thru” dropping soon on all platforms. Visit AcetheRapper.com to stay up to date and get the latest on my music.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
There are a lot of qualities/skills that are beneficial to most careers. But as an artist, you have to be able to effectively communicate. Networking is a huge part of the industry and to be successful you have to capitalize. Resilience is also a big thing. You have to stand firm in your passion and what you believe in. You can’t let other people’s opinions make you waver. You have to find it in you to keep going no matter what. Instead of letting them tear you down, use it as fuel to prove everybody wrong. Lastly, I would say taking the time to fully learn your craft. Specifically as an artist it’s easy to get caught up in the music side of things. In order to be successful, you have to learn every aspect of your craft. The more you know the easier it is to develop yourself and that resilience to chase your dreams. Knowledge is the most valuable thing in the world.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
It’s always good to take a step back when you feel overwhelmed. My friends and family are my biggest escape whenever I feel like I need a break. When you’re overwhelmed don’t be afraid to take time to reset and move at your own pace. Self care is the best care and when you take the time to genuinely figure yourself out things become a lot easier.
