Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adam Boyd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adam, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience doesn’t come from one event or situation. It’s built on consistent habits over time. When something doesn’t go your way, a choice is presented to you. You can either learn from the experience and get better or you can default to an old habit. Faith in the journey ahead empowers me to confront obstacles head-on, transforming setbacks into stepping stones toward growth. With each test that life presents, my resilience strengthens, shaping me into a resilient soul ready to face whatever comes my way. One the key ways I build resilience is through intentional challenge. On July 29, I am running a 100 mile ultra marathon. The perfect way to test your skills.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Health and wellness has always been a passion of mine. I created my program to build resilience in people and organizations but it was missing something. I went back to my tool box and added leadership training to the structure of the program. I’ve seen so many in positions of leadership just lack the skills of the position. I felt it was a must have in the program.
The other thing I’m very excited about is an exclusive event I created. It’s called the “Iron Misogi” . It’s an exclusive 5 day event where participants will learn skills of leadership and resilience through a hands on learning experience. At some point during the 5 days their skills of resilience will be put to the test. They won’t know when it starts or when it will end but it will test your physical and mental limits. The week is brought together by a ceremony of completion. Those who complete the “Iron Misogi” will have something to be proud of for a lifetime. This event is by application only. . It’s something I’m very excited to roll out in the coming months.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1) Being resilient through this journey has brought me further than I would have imagined. Things can definitely get hard but the habit of pushing through is something that is a must.
2) My thirst for knowledge has been paramount. I’m always searching for books, people, podcasts, etc that can help my journey. If you think you know everything you will surely fail.
3) My ability to step back and take care of myself physically, mentally, and emotionally has carried me a long way. I’ve gotten very good at recognizing when I need a break. The line of needing a break and wanting a break are two different things. It’s important to distinguish between the two. That comes with experience.
My advice to everyone is to surround yourself with people who have done more than you, are smarter than you, and will push you. Your circle will determine the level you achieve.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m looking for people to collaborate with that want to help their organization improve its health, wellness, and culture. I have a skill set that can be beneficial to improve health in the work place. I’d love to work together to make your place of employment more enjoyable.
