Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Addie Pecord. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Addie, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I feel my work ethic came from a long line of hard working family members. Watching them work hard to build a life for themselves was always inspiring. My grandfather started his own business years ago and then I watched my uncle start a business and create a success story of his own. My goal in life was to create a life that I was proud of and I can say that I have done that, but it would not have happened without putting in the work and being committed to my goal.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
From a young age I always was inspired by design. I grew up in the Vail Valley and after graduating high school I ventured out to pursue a design degree in Los Angeles. Once I learned and created a foundation in the industry, I moved back to the Vail Valley and continued to work in the design field. After eight years working in the field I decided to take the risk of starting my own business. In 2021, I officially launched LA Studio & Co. a small boutique design firm. After a successful two and a half years I was presented with the opportunity to purchase a furniture store. In December of 2023, my husband and I (Lucas & Addie the “L” & “A”) proudly opened the doors of LA Studio & Co. – Home Decor & Design. We are so fortunate to be able to share accessible design with this Valley and we look forward to many more years helping turn houses into homes.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the most valued qualities that were impactful for my success were persistence, drive, & gratitude. The best advice I can give someone in the early stage of their journey would be if you want something bad enough you will go to great lengths to accomplish your goal so do not give up. It is worth all the hard work, struggle and effort, you will get there.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I have so many people who were helpful to me in overcoming challenges. My friends and family gave me constant support and encouragement. My fellow interior designers helped my skill set and provided experiences school could not teach. My clients for believing in my work and taking a chance on me and allowing me to continue to expand and grow in the design industry.
