Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adina Doss. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Adina with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Growing up with a single mother and 1 sibling, my mom worked hard to provide us with the life we grew up in. Nice house in the burbs, nice schools, cloths on our back, shoes on our feet. Her idea of family vacation was camping at the lake and I grew up water skiing. We had the things we needed and most of the things we wanted. Things were different then, I didn’t want a lot of things. As I got older and wanted to DO more things, I was old enough to get a job. Well kind of, I got my first job when I was 15. I wanted things my mom wasn’t willing or able, I’m not sure which, to pay for. For me if I was old enough to get the job than I was absolutely going to get one. Ahhhh the freedom I had. The more I wanted to do, the more I worked to be able to do them. I didn’t have the expectation that my mom would provide it for me. I would have a job and when I wanted to do something else I would go get that job. I found myself sometimes working two jobs at a time because it gave me the freedom I was looking for and the life I wanted to create. To this day this is still my work ethic. I have been successful in my career path. I own a salon suite in Santa Monica, I am a Global artist for Redken and last year I opened a spiritual wellness center in West LA. All of which I LOVE to do. I am more driven by the desires of the heart than the financial gain although that helps. I love what I do and as it evolves so does how it shows up as my “work”. I haven’t worked a day in my life. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with its own bouts of growth and challenge but that too can be fun with the right mindset.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I started as a hairstylist over 25yrs ago. I grew up in the industry so at a young age I knew that this is what I wanted to do. You could say that I had an eye for the art but it took education to support that art by first understanding the foundations of my craft. It was then that I decided that I wanted to also teach in the industry. Share the knowledge that helped me so much in mastering my craft. I found my brand and 24 yrs later I am a global performing artist for REDKEN. It never gets old!
I love what I do behind the chair, providing quality service, doing great hair and helping my guests shine from the inside out. About 7 yrs ago as I started to deep dive in my own personal journey of self. I also started sharing and exploring what I was doing with my guests. 2yrs later I was adding integrated services such as guided meditations, crystal therapy, reiki, chakra balancing and intuitive readings. I changed the game of service in the service industry.
On the road in educations, empowering salon professionals to step into their career, show up for themselves, provide quality service through technical skills and standards of quality time. Also I have managed, how to integrate the wellness portion into my education through the amazing platform, my brand, REDKEN. Still striving to make a difference.
Well as if that wasn’t enough I had a calling a few years back to expand on the inner beauty portion of my work. In full surrender I put one foot in front of the other, 6 months later the doors were opening to the expanded Inner Beauty Collective~ MASTERY opened February 2022. A spiritual wellness center that provides classes, courses and 1:1 sessions. Yoga, meditation, breathwork, soundbath, chi gong, zero balance, reiki, drum circles, full moon ceremonies, crystal therapy and more. It is a space for community to come and feel safe, learn, grow and share. We host POP UPs every few months to showcase different local vendors, host free mini classes and explore all that we have to offer. I feel so lucky to be in this new phase of creating and connection. We have so much education and support for everyone! We want this to be a place you can call home.
I am a woman with vision, passion and a zest for life. I have 3 careers, 3 kids. I meditate every morning, work out 5 days a week and still find time to relax. I want to share with people that it’s possible. I want people to experience this in their own way, doing what they love doing. I wish for people to LIVE THEIR BEST LIFE!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
There is no race to the finish line. Presence is a beautiful practice, it is a trained practice and not always easy but it allows one to stay focused on the important things. Feel grateful for what matters. Commitment and consistency to the things that matter. Developing a strong sense of self, self preservation and commitment to self. Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. As each one of us are here to beautifully serve our purpose with grace and ease. It’s up to us to mind our own mind through knowledge and continued education. When we have strong foundation of knowledge it helps support what it is we are trying to achieve for ourselves. Knowledge supports the rational mind so that the higher mind can give you the guidance you need to make decisions that best lead you towards where we are trying to go. Which then takes us to the next step called TRUST. When we trust ourselves we let go of the need for approval, when we let go of the need for a approval, we trust ourselves. See how that works? It is necessary to have mentors and coaches in our growth and evolution of self but they are there to support and remind us of the power that exists with in us, to inspire us, teach us and at some point we will move on from them to integrate what we have learned and put it into action or find the next base of knowledge. Be it through books, classes, etc. We are constantly growing and changing, evolving into the next version of ourself. Moment to moment, day for day. The change sometimes can be so rapid. When we are present and aware of this we can allow. Allow the changes to take place, allow things to move as they should, even if that isn’t the way we thought it was going to go. Surrender to the unknown and make decisions based off of the knowledge and our hearts desire! YOU have what it takes to make it happen, ALWAYS!!!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am a Inner & Outer Beauty specialist. A spiritual missionary. A leader. A teacher. A friend. A mom. A woman that leads a heart centered life. I have created a space that does just that. A heart centered practice. A safe space for individuals to come and utilize for their own practice or come and enjoy all that the space has to offer. Mastery Inner Beauty Collective is part of my mission, it was a calling in my purpose. It is here not for me but for everybody to come feel, heal and experience for themselves. I can’t wait to meet you!!!
I see you
I feel you
I love you
